Ross Wilkin 0 - 4 Harvery Pabla (41 break)

A close first frame, but once Harvey settled down it was clear he's an experienced solid player. Beware fellow division 3'ers !!!

Chris Mathers 2-2 Ross Wilkin

My new team-mate kept me honest in this match, especially towards the end.
I won the first 2 frames fairly comfortably with Chris seemingly not settling down yet.
A STUPID thing I've been doing for ages is not realising what the frame ball is on the last colours. In the third frame I was behind, but felt confident to clear them, but I wasn't sure if blue or pink was the frame ball, so i dithered about, not sure what it was WHILE trying a tricky pink. I missed and Chris took the frame.
I was pretty awful in the last frame, potting lots of reds and no colours while Chris was potting better and won the frame easily.

Overall, not a bad result for both of us after losing our first matches.

Ross Wilkin (28) 3-1 Brian Steeples (49)

A close first frame, with me managing to pot the pink frame ball.
A respotted black in the 2nd with Brian leaving me an easy pot in the middle.
Went back to old habits, potting lots of reds and no colours in the 3rd, needing a few snookers at the final colours. Comfortable win for Brian.
Managed a few little breaks early on in the 4th to make sure I was ahead towards the end. Brian missed a couple of balls, increasing my lead and conceded.
Bit of a grinder but pleased with my first singles league win in........ don't tell me how long Steve or Mike!!!

Ross Wilkin 3 - 1 Steve Burrows

Both players fairly evenly matched for this one. For some reason I hardly missed any long shots all evening. Frame 1 and 2 were pretty close scrappy frames but I took the frames on the final colours. Managed a 23 off a long red from the baulk cushion in the 3rd frame which could've been more and took the frame on the final blue. 4th was a mess with almost all the reds and colours going safe early on but Steve managed to take it on the final black.

A pleasure to play Steve, apparently he's only returned to the game recently after years of not playing so maybe one to watch!

Well done good result Ross  . Steve's got a nice cue action when he really comits himself to a shot but apart from that he just needs a bit off work doing in the pratice department and then he will be hard to beat!

Cheers Sean... yeh hes got a text book cue action...maybe he should play a little slower? Still, I'm no-one to say on that subject! I really enjoyed it... I don't know how I get some of these crazy long shots sometimes...just need to add a few breaks after them!

David Buckley 1 - 3 Ross Wilkin

A tough opponent to play at BCI!
Colours went safe early on in the 1st frame and I just managed to stay ahead in points to be able to take the frame on the final blue.
A similar 2nd frame although David was the one just keeping his nose in front this time. I was 21 behind with one red left and was pleased a few shots later to pot a difficult blue and pink to take the 2nd frame.
In the 3rd I wasnt so lucky and left Dave some chances after my misses. He scored better in this frame and rightly won it.
I was ahead in the 4th towards the end but the nerves got to me a little missing an easy yellow. Dave needed the final black to draw but left me a straight pot in to the middle which I was relieved to see disappear!

Hard luck Dave, a felt I had a fair bit of running, not leaving you any reds on in the 1st 2 frames!

That's a terrific away win Ross, well done.

Is that counting as your junior handicap result as well (ie. 2-0) or are you playing that later in the week?

Cheers Steve. Junior handicap on Weds now plus arranged all the others now.

Harvey Pabla 3 - 1 Ross Wilkin.

First 2 frames played at the NFSSC were quite scrappy. I had a chance in both but Harvey just did enough to take them.
I got off to a good start in the 3rd, making a tough positional 18 then missing a red over the pocket!! Harvey then came straight back with a 24 and eventually won that one comfortably.
We both relaxed a bit in the 4th although no real breaks came of it. I managed to clear the last 4 colours to win the frame comfortably.

Well played Harvey, clear contender for the division and a top bloke!
Nice club too!

Very unlucky Ross it does sound scrappy its a shame when frames turn out like that but keep your chin up mate because you had a great win the other week against Dave Buckley and its not to late to try and get second place anything can happen.

never the less a good win for Harvy Pabla. :bravo:

Ross Wilkin 2 - 2 Adam Robinson

The score reflects the match perfectly. Neither of us could build any kind of break but both potting solidly, so all close low scoring frames. We even had the same amount of outrageous flukes each! (2-2, although I did moan a bit when Adam got his on the final brown in the last frame to then win it)

I also hope we meet again next season Adam, we had a good laugh.

Steve Burrows 1 - 3 Ross Wilkin.

We played this at Steve Butler's place straight after our jnr hcp battle!

Steve took the first tight frame with a nice bit of revenge in his blood!
However, I built on my good form from the earlier match and went on to win the rest with a 21 and 31 break along the way.
Probably best I've played in years in both matches. Hard luck Steve and thanks for taking it so well, top chap!!

Ross Wilkin(22 break) 2 - 2 Dave Buckley(43 break)

Fairly even match with Dave taking the first frame then me coming back in the next 2. I then split the pack in the last and Dave made a great break, hard luck on pinching the highest break Dave!!!
:bravo:
