Danny Castel-Nuovo (37)   3-1   Mike Langdon (44)

Danny Castel-Nuovo went top of the 1st Division but had to work hard for his 3-1 victory against Mike Langdon.

Frame 1

Langdon started brightly leaving Castel-Nuovo needing a snooker going into the colours in the opening frame.  Castel-Nuovo kept up the pressure by laying snooker after snooker and his persistence eventually paid off when Langdon missed the green...frame back in the balance!  Castel-Nuovo cleared down to the pink but missed the black giving Langdon one final chance which he failed to take leaving Castel-Nuovo an easy frame ball into the middle bag.

Frame 2

Both players looked in good form with Castel-Nuovo building up a decent lead but Langdon seized the initiative with a well taken 44 break but broke down on the yellow with a 71 clearance possible.  Worse for Langdon was the realisation that it was frame ball he had just missed with the rest and Castel-Nuovo sensed another possible fight back. Not to be this time though, with Langdon taking Green brown and blue to make it one each.

Frame 3

Castel-Nuovo stamped his authority on the match helped by a good 37 break to win the only frame of the match which didn't go down to the last few colours (2-1)

Frame 4

Langdon looked good for a point in this frame leading by some 45 odd points with only a few reds left on the table.  Castel-Nuovo from then on in snuffed langdon out with some good safety and dare i say it a kind run of the ball on a couple of occasions (I know, I know i deserve it)  ;)  Castel-Nuovo wrapped up the match clearing down from Yellow to Pink to complete a great fightback in which he showed the sort of metal that might just see him pick up the winners medal at the end of the season.

Ouch!  Losing a frame with opponent needing snookers and letting a 45 point lead slip.  AND not getting the run of the balls?  Not like you Mike.

Sounds like Danny really showed a bit of gritty determination in that one.

Yes i must say mike was looking good for a draw.I did get a nice run of the balls against him(for once) ;).Always have a hard game against you mike.Funny how the only frame i lost was the one i started best in,nice 44 by the way to take it.Looking close now, anyone can still win it with a run of wins i think.
