Singles League: Clint Broome 2-2 Daniel Norton

Frame 1 was a tight one with a lot of safety and neither player settling early on.  I just got into a winning position with green over the pocket needing only green and brown for snookers but missed and left it in the jaws!!!  Doh!!!  Clint took advantage and nicked the frame.

The next was another close one and went to a re-spotted black after both of us missed chances to win it.  I managed to produce a good white on the bottom cushion and black tight on the top cushion to leave a tough safety for Clint.  Clint tried the fine cut to return the white to the bottom of the table but missed the black to gift me the frame.  Scores at 1-1.

Both of us started to play some good shots (at last) in this one, neither of us wanting to go 2-1 down.   I can't remember how it ended but It was close again with me just holding my form to edge it. 2-1 to me.

More errors from both of us as we started to tire but Clint was the stronger player in this one.  However somehow I ground away to stay in the frame but I think a Clint miss left me snookered behind the black.  I left Clint on and he knocked in a tidy little break to leave me needing a snooker.  I couldn't muster the shots to get back in it and Clint deservedly won the last frame.  Match drawn.

It was interesting talking to Clint.  It sounds like he has had similar problems to me this season.  We both intended to play more snooker and expected to be more competitive this season.  However, work has taken over and we have not been able to play/practice enough or when we have played, have often been shattered.  I don't mind it admitting it has been tough in the singles league playing against some fast improving youngsters who are gettin a lot more hours on a snooker table than me.  It has been good to see the rapid improvement though as it bodes well for the future.

I know you needed the 2 points really Clint but at least you got 1 to keep you just in the hunt for a top 2 spot.   Thanks for the game mate. :thx:

Can you pls ring me with reguards to our match, In a few weeks i have to go and work away down south for few weeks.
But have a week or two to sort this out.
Yes we can play at Long Eaton as i work in Chilwell and finish everyday at 6.pm.
