Play offs anyone???

At the AGM Alan Cunningham? proposed that only one team be promoted due to team quality issues, this was turned down.  Perhaps a half way solution to this might be to have end of season play offs. Not only would this give the div 1 team (who may not want to play in div 2) a lifeline it would also keep alive the season of many of the clubs in div 2. plus the league will get a few more quid in the coffers from the extra 3 matches.

perhaps...

bottom Div 1 - relegated
Top div 2 - automatic promotion
7th in div 1 plays off against 4th in div 2 in a semi final
2nd and 3rd in div 2 play off in the other semi final
the two winners meet in play off final to decide who plays in Div 1 next season.

Any thoughts?

I agree with Mikel, it WOULD keep the season going and would create more interest than my suggestion of only one team up and down.
