Title: Stadium Sharks 4-3 Pegasus Predators (16/06/09)
Post by: Steve Butler on 16 June 2009
Stadium Sharks narrowly defeated Pegasus Predators 4-3 in a closely fought match that saw Nav Hussain capture the break point for the Predators with a clearance of 35.  Hussain's break came in the opening frame of his game against Barry Stark.  Hussain was potting everything in sight and he hammered Stark 61-0.  The Sharks player, who was standing in for the absent Bob Walker, then hit back in style, levelling the match with a 40-17 victory.

Daniel Di Folco put the Sharks ahead with a 35-25 win against Danny Castel-Nuovo but the Predators man levelled the match again with a 31-23 win in the second frame.

Neither Steve Butler or Mike Langdon had been playing well recently so it was anybody's guess who would come out on top in the final game of the match.  The first frame was a tactical battle but Butler finished the frame strongly, taking it 41-14 to put the Sharks 3-2 ahead.  With little prospect of Butler beating Hussain's 35 break the match was effectively 3-3 going into the crucial final frame.  Butler found himself 24 points ahead after making breaks of 13 and 15.  He gave Langdon few chances but it was the Predators captain's bad luck that led to him losing the frame.  Langdon had a good chance to clear the colours but in potting the brown he stunned the white into the middle bag, leaving Butler an easy pot on the brown from the D which put him 19 ahead with 18 remaining.  Langdon potted the blue but then went in-off the pink into the same middle bag and Butler dispatched the pink to win the match for the Sharks.

Barry Stark 1-1 Nav Hussain (35)
Daniel Di Folco 1-1 Danny Castel-Nuovo
Steve Butler 2-0 Mike Langdon
