Mike Langdon is getting it all together at the moment and there will be an announcement soon telling you that the fixtures etc. are on the website. It won't be long now......
This is really sad news regarding the loss of Sherwood, a team with a great history in the NHSL (the last team other than Arnold to win the league, the 143 break...the highest recorded to date). Considering Hillcrest 'A' also moved over there when it closed they actually had two sides only a couple of seasons ago.
There has been a lot of negative comments about the new rule change regarding subs but had this change been in place a couple of years ago we could well still have two Sherwood teams competing succesfully today. I feel quite frustrated that those who object to the new rule change such as i had to deal with at Wollaton, without being to harsh, seem to focus on an unfair advantage aspect as if we have only changed the rule to suit ourselves. I can honestly say that i brought the rule to the attention of the members at the AGM because i feel it is a rule that will be of benefit to the league and would allow Pegasus and others sides to enter a B team with confidence....Not to allow me some kind of advantage.
Of course the other thing the demise of Sherwood illustrates is just how important it is to have a good keen captain running things at your club....so next time you bump into him give him a pat on the back and buy him a drink.
mines a lager
cheers
Mike
i completely agree mike well put mate . . . those who think the rule change was to your benefit need to think before they speak, and think it thru' and realise it's not an advantahe to you at all . . . regarding giving the captain a pat on the back and being bought a drink i totally agree as our captain at phoenix anyone from my team reading this??? . . . . i'll just have a coffee please 2 sugars . . .
cheer up mike i know you do a fab job,i've yet to meet you yet but looking forward to seeing you sometime mate!!
ps what a real sad shame about sherwood . . . . .

Good point Mike and that's why I was going to suggest that a Captains Cup competition is held each year to reward team captains who put in a lot of work throughout the season to keep their teams going. We ran out of time at the AGM to discuss it but I wouldn't mind organising something later in the season which incorporates the NNIA team captains. We could invite all team captains from both leagues to attend BCI for the day to compete for a new Captains Cup trophy. They definitely need some recognition and reward for the effort they put in.
great idea Steve. Think it'll be really good and would be a great chance to meet all the other captains and also be able to chat about any issues that are bothering any of us.
Mike
Can we have an Ex-Captains Cup as well - Feeling unloved
You haven't got any more room in your trophy cabinet Wayne!

Note Wayne's creative use of yoghurt pots!
I'm sure they are all my first round losers trophies !!!!
Made them myself as I ran out of wooden spoons.
All those years of watching Blue Peter after school have finally paid off ;)
I think that sounds like a good idea
Yes a very good idea Steve!!! A Special "Captains Cup" Sounds Good to me
A couple of pool leagues have "captains and secretaries" cups.
Every team gets to appoint a team secretary , and would allow another member of the team who is feeling "left out" to take part.
I think the Super league 6 Reds league was fun and a great success! Each team had a player with the highest percentages of wins who did the best for each team, I think it would of been good if we had more time, for each of the qualified player from each team to then enter into a Super 6 Reds singles knock out to represent their team and win the Super Six Reds Player of the season trophy! Just another one of my crazy thoughts!!! Just like the captains cup, something special and individual to award the individual or it will just be like any other competition I think!!
Two more good ideas there guys!
:thx:
Will look at organising something later in the season.
:england:
Yep, I was team Captain for the Arnold 'A' team and for how many years ? have I been attending League meetings. Now we have 2 teams I cant keep a track of them both, especially last year when playing each other, so have delegated the Captains job to 1 of the players from each team. BUT who still attends the meetings - MUGGINS with no back up. Yes, lets have a Captains/Secretaries/Managers Cup - and perhaps a Thousand Pound prize money.
