Title: So close!
Post by: Steve Butler on 21 October 2009
In all my time as secretary of the NHSL I don't think I can remember a night when all matches finished either 5-3 or 4-4.  More nights like that throughout the season will make for a very exciting finish indeed!

All results are in and the up-to-date league tables can be viewed on the league website HERE (http://www.nottinghamsnooker.com/nhsl/season_2009-10/Page.htm).

Once again, thanks to everyone for the match reports and congratulations to Wayne Martin for hitting the season's highest break of 96!

Yep was thinking earlier that we might be in for a very exciting season.  BCI Super Elites have got off to a flyer and look a very strong team indeed with Jamie Moore and now Keith Holgate playing for them.  Pegasus and Beeston both also have strong teams and thats without even talking about the champions of champions Arnold CD 'A'.  Reckon anyone of these teams could win it this year and are more than likely to be beating each other all season......GREAT STUFF.  Also the bottom half of the division appears to be very close ...Mapperley have not got a point yet but are better than that, Stadium off to a slow start but have only played 2 whilst BCI Braves are starting to find their feet now after a worrying start to the season.  Phoenix seem to be holding their own but will start to worry if they don't start turning these 5-3 losses into points.

Division 2 is also looking very well balanced with the exception of the Uni boys who are clear at the moment but after blowing the field away in their first couple of matches even they have only just pinched matches recently.  My team appear to be able to give most sides a good game and i was very impressed with Cotgrave.  I think a lot of us were concerned how they would cope in losing Anthony McMahon to Beeston however it looks like they have uncovered a couple of gems in Rob Paterson and Steve Evans which is great for the club.  Also on the up are City Hospital who are starting to reap the rewards of taking a risk on youngsters like Jordan Parnham and Sean Croft who both have improved immensely.  Wollaton have also made a promising start after several seasons towards the bottom of the division.  You never know what your going to get with Lenton and whenever they unleash the dangerous Matt Savage you know you're in trouble.  Strangely this year Arnold CD 'B' who have been a giant in this division for years seem to be struggleing..write them off at your peril would be my advice. With only 1 win seperating 2nd place from 2nd bottom after 4 matches i think even the bookies would be scratching their heads as to whom will be contesting the play-offs this year.

I must say Nottm Uni have a had a worryingly good start.  However they are yet to play us. Lets hope we can turn them over in November.
