Title: Arnold Civil Defence A 4-4 Stadium Leisure (17/11/09)
Post by: Steve Butler on 18 November 2009
Arnold Civil Defence A have slipped further behind the leaders in division one having only managed a 4-4 draw against strugglers Stadium Leisure.

At Stadium, Barry Stark gave Brian Kinton few chances.  Stark had breaks of 16, 21, 23 and 16 on the way to a resounding 97-14 victory.  Matt Hearson-Ellis could only muster 17 points against an in-form John Fountain.  The Arnold player and Notts Amateur Championship finalist made a terrific clearance of 67 to take the frame 84-17.  Ross Wilkin played some amazing safety against Malc Belshaw in a 52 minute frame that went right down to the black.  Wilkin sunk the all important ball to seal a crucial 56-55 victory that put Stadium 2-1 up.  Stark and Pete Gormley took on Belshaw and Kinton in the pairs and the Arnold players were left wondering how they didn't win.  The Stadium pair ran out 53-41 victors to give their team a 3-1 home leg win.

At Arnold, Danny Di Folco played well against Chris Winter but the Stadium man just couldn't get in the balls and Winter took the frame 51-42.  Meanwhile Gary Spencer went into an early lead against Steve Butler with a 24 break but the Stadium player pulled out a 45 break from nowhere to take the initiative.  Spencer laid a tough snooker which Butler managed to escape from only to see the final red finish in a pottable position.  Spencer then showed his class potting the red followed by an excellent black and all the colours off their spots for a 35 clearance, taking the frame 73-57.  In the final singles frame Bob Walker made a 27 break to take an early lead against James Notman.  The Arnold man hit back with a fine 38 break but Walker potted an amazing long blue followed by the pink to win the frame 68-52.  Di Folco and Butler struggled in the pairs as Winter and Spencer ran out easy 56-19 winners.

Wow Steve!

That's a great result against the Nazareth House defending champions! Alot of the Big teams have only been sneaking the 5-3 result for the 2pts win! "dangerous" always the chance of the dreaded draw especially against the experience of Stadium! Nice break in the match Steve, unlucky you went on to loose, it just shows Arnold are tricky to beat! Nice break from JPF away at Stadium too! A great result for the Stadium lads!!

"First of the many giant Killers, hey Steve!"  ;) ;) ;)
