ENGLISH REGIONAL JUNIOR TOUR
EVENT 1 - FIVE ZONES
Ninety two players spread across 5 zones took part in Event 1, EASB Regional Junior Tour with the North at Cue Gardens, Bradford fielding a third of the entrants.
Zone 1 – Rileys, Plymouth (11)
Declan Bristow, Bristol won in the South West beating the more experienced Mark Green, Salisbury 2-1 in the final.
Only one break over forty Hayden Pinhey, Plymouth 41.
Group winners Bristow, Green, Samuel Streames, Charfield and Pinhey.
Zone 2 – Chandlers Ford SC (19)
Newcomer Luke Godfrey, Hastings won all his matches 2-0 in the knockout stage defeated English Under finalist Adam Bobat, Fareham in the final, 2nd frame on the black.
Bobat made the highest break of the day 78 in his first match, Jordan Wimborne, Southampton 71, Kristian Kelly, Milton Keynes 54.
Group winners Bobat, Godfrey both lost a match, Scott Bell, Tunbridge Wells and Kelly unbeaten.
Zone 3 – Cannon Club, Market Harborough (15)
James Jelley, Leicester defeated relatively newcomer Chris Wakelin, Rugby 2-1 after the runner up had won the 2nd frame on the black, Wakelin had beaten Jelley 2-1 in the group satge.
Sameer Knight made the highest break 82, Wakelin 72.
Group winners Wakelin, Knight, Oliver Brown, Dronfield and Toby Simpson, Nottingham all unbeaten with Knight and Brown never losing a frame.
Hannah Jones, Derby qualified for the first time from the round robins losing 2-0 to Brown.
Zone 4 – Landywood SC, Walsall (16)
Jonathan Haslam, Blackpool won in the West Midlands beating Steven Giles,
Bilston 2-1 after losing the first frame easily.
The highest break 61 came from Daniel Blunn, Sutton Coldfield, James Myers, Liverpool, 57, Haslam 55, Ryan Duffy, Oldham and Joe Steele, Stoke both 51 breaks.
The group winners Giles who beat Haslam initially, Steele, Jordan Rimmer, Birmingham and Clayton Humphries, Liverpool.
Zone 5 – Cue Gardens, Bradford (31)
The North East/Yorks provided the Tours biggest entry and the largest number of breaks 18 over fifty topped by a 88 from the runner up Oliver Calland, Doncaster, 76 came from Michael Williams, Hartlepool, Joe Roberts, Featherstone 73 and Daniel Womersley, Leeds 70.
Jonathan Bradley, Consett won the zone final beating Calland 2-1 after losing the first frame.
Darryl Hill, Isle of Man recorded the only clean sheet of the whole tour last seasons Under 14 runner up won all 12 frames also unbeaten in the groups Thomas Saddington Hull and Chris Keogan, Doncaster.
Other group winners Chris Driver, Leeds, Glen Bowman, Gateshead and Anthony Green, Bradford.
