LETTER

Dear Player,

Many thanks for entering the 2009/10 English Club Players Snooker Championship.

It is hoped that this event will give more players at grass roots level the chance to compete in National events, without taking on the top
players who are currently trying to reach the professional ranks.  I am sure you will agree that it gives those of you who have entered,
a fantastic chance to be part of the EASB Finals Weekend, to be held at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield in May.
All entries have been split into five regions, and eight players will qualify to the final stages, which will be held on Saturday 27th March
at Willie Thorne's Snooker Club in Leicester.

RULES FOR QUALIFYING GAMES

Please find enclosed a drawsheet for the qualifying rounds, which contains the deadline date for results to be back in to the EASB.
Also attached is a contact sheet, and it is the HOME PLAYER that is responsible for arranging matches, and he should contact the
number given for his opponent as soon as possible to arrange the match.  On arranging the game, the home player must inform and give address details of the selected venue that they are playing their home game from.  BOTH PLAYERS should take their match sheet with them to the venue, and the winner is responsible for sending in his copy.  If any results are not received by the deadline, then both players
could be eliminated from the competition. Result sheets should be sent to the address at the top of this letter.  All games will be the best of seven frames, and the home player is responsible for arranging a suitable referee. The away player is within his rights to claim a match should a referee not be available.  Please note, that as this is a National Competition, we expect all players to adhere to a dress code across the qualifying section. This will be collared shirt or polo shirt, dark trousers, and shoes.

CLOSING DATES

Round One Matches must be played by 1st February.
Round Two Matches must be played by 15th February.
Round Three Matches must be played by 1st March.
All results must be posted or emailed back to the office within 3 days of each closing date, otherwise both players will be eliminated

LAST EIGHT STAGE

Those players that reach the last eight stage will be drawn into two round robin groups of four, again playing best of seven frames.
The top two players in each group will qualify to the semi-finals, and the winner of these games into the Final, which as mentioned earlier,
will be played as part of the EASB finals weekend.

Chris Winter 4-1 Malc Belshaw

Belshaw went into a 1-0 lead and almost made it 2-0 as Winter struggled early on.  However, Winter managed to pinch the second frame to level at 1-1 and his confidence grew from thereon as he made breaks of 46, 50 and 30 to take the match and set up a round 2 encounter with either Gary Skipworth or Sameer Knight.

Steve Butler 2-4 Michael Kirk

The first two frames were shared before Kirk won the next two to lead 3-1.  Butler then took the next to prolong the agony but Kirk finished him off to win 4-2.  A poor quality match in which the highest break was about 20!

Thanks to Malc Belshaw for refereeing the match, Dave Buckley for providing the audience and Stadium Leisure for charging £15 for the table!

Kirk will now face either Lee Crombie or Gary Spencer in the next round.

lee crombie Vs gary spencer

this match was played at sherwood social with lee playing a little out of sorts for the way hes capable of playing.
FRAME 1 scrappy affair with gary taking the frame 22-65
FRAME 2 frames starting to get better with some good solid potting from both players but with gary coming out on 31-73
FRAME 3 lee races into a 28 point lead only to watch gary clear the table with a solid 85 clearance 34-92
FRAME 4 the balls were not ideally placed with the balls all blocking one another off lee started to get ahead then missing an easy pot to let gary in for a 30 break , lee missing many chances in this on with gary coming out on top 16-44

gary now faces mick kirk in the 2nd qualifying round who he played last year to qualify. at arnold civil defence.
