ENGLISH REGIONAL JUNIOR TOUR
EVENT 2 – FIVE ZONES – 93 PLAYERS
Zone 1 – Ambassador SC, Poole (10)
Michael Rogers, Taunton defeated Mark Green, Salisbury 2-1 in the final after Green in his 2nd successive final made the day's highest break 61 for 1-1.
Green won his group undefeated with a frame score of 10-2 making in total six breaks over forty.
Declan Bristow, Bristol winner of Event 1 won the other group losing a match and then the semi final 2-1 to Rogers, Green defeated James Bolton, Amesbury 2-0 in the other semi final.
Bristow 376 points leads Rogers by a point in the rankings, Green 3rd on 362 points and Bolton 4th 230 points.
Zone 2 – Fareham SC – (21)
Hammad Miah, London who did not play in Event 1 defeated Jordan Winbourne, Southampton 2-1 after losing the 2nd frame on the black Miah winning the decider easily 64-9.
Miah also made the highest break 73 early on the day and with a 12-3 score line won his group as did Adam Bobat, Fareham, Danny Douane, London and Winbourne all 10-2 with only Bobat losing a match.
Scott Bell, Tunbridge Wells now twice a semi finalist takes over at the top of the table with 302 points, Bobat just two points adrift, Wimbourne 3rd 261, 4th Luke Godfrey, Hastings who won Event 1 failed to qualify is on 255 points and Miah 5th on 225.
The winner crushed Douane who made the most breaks on the day over fifty 2-0 in the semi finals Winborne beat Bell 2-1 in the other match.
Zone 3 – Cambridge SC – (14)
Chris Wakelin, Rugby avenged his Event 1 defeat to James Jelly, Leicester winning 2-1 on the black after losing the first frame to join Jelley on 406 points at the top of the table.
The winner cruised through to the final without losing a frame 9-0 in his group then beat Hannah Jones, Derby and Oliver Brown, Dronfield both 2-0 making the highest break 77 plus six others over forty.
Jelley could only manage 2nd place in his group qualifying by beating Kurt Brewer, 12, Cambridge 2-1 in his final match, Brown, Sameer Knight, Leicester and Toby Simpson, Nottingham also won their groups undefeated.
Brown is in 3rd place on 300 points, 4th Knight on 270.
Zone 4 – Oldham Snooker Academy (18)
Farakh Ajaib, Accrington in his first event stormed through the field losing just two frames all day beating Jordan Rimmer, Birmingham who now heads the rankings 2-0.
The winner lost just one frame in his group 11-1 and made eight breaks over forty topped by runs of 81 and 84 has recently reached the final of PIOS Event 5.
Daniel Blunn, Sutton Coldfield, Rimmer and Joe Steele, Stoke also won their groups
the first two losing a match.
Ajaib defeated James Cahill, Blackpool 2-0 in the last four Rimmer accounted for James Myers, Liverpool 2-1.
Rimmer leads on 330 points, Steele 2nd on 271, Steven Giles, Bilston is 3rd with 262 points, 4th Event 1 winner Jonathan Haslum, Blackpool who failed to qualify this time 255 and Ajaib is 6th on 225 points.
Zone 5 – Northern SC, Leeds (30)
English Under 14 Champion Oliver Lines made home advantage count in the events toughest zone beating Chris Keogan, Doncaster 2-0 in the final and topped the break charts with a 75 break.
Lines 9-3 won his group undefeated as did Carl Mottershaw, Wakefield who won all his matches 2-1 also unbeaten Ashley Carty, Rotherham, Anthony Green, Bradford, Darryl Hill, Isle of Man, Oliver Calland, Doncaster lost a match.
From 1-0 down Lines beat Under 14 finalist Hill 2-1 in the last eight with a 54 break in the decider then rankings leader Calland 2-1, Keoghan overcame Carty 2-0 and Green 2-1.
Two Doncaster lads head the rankings Calland leads on 332, Keoghan close behind on 331, Lines up to 3rd on 296 and Jonathan Bradley, Consett who won Event 1 4th on 275 points.
