Pegasus 'B' 4-4 Arnold Civil Defence 'B'
Pegasus's slump in form continued as they once again could only manage a draw leaving the team without a win since the end of November. At Pegasus, Steve Booth enjoyed a kind run of the balls against Alan Cunningham to put Pegasus one up but from there on in it was all Arnold. Kirk Wesselby levelled the leg with an important win over Andy Orange before Arnold skipper Andy Nichols put Arnold in the driving seat with victory over Daniel Norton complete with new specs (shouldn't have bothered going to Specsavers!!!). Arnold completed a great away leg win with victory over 'The chuckle Brothers' in the pairs. At Arnold, Eric Towle finally seems to be getting his game together by making it back to back victories with a comfortable win over Stan Candler who was playing through the pain barrier. Arnold sub James Notman had no answer to the silky potting skills of Ken Michell who left the Arnold man requiring snookers going into the colours. The last meeting between Sean Kelly and Mike Langdon ended with a fluked trademark black from Langdon but this time out it was Kelly who had the last laugh. Langdon looked in good shape leaving the black tight on the bottom cushion but was helpless as Kelly fluked a double into the green pocket to win the frame. Eric Towle for the second week running ensured a point for Pegasus with some excellent scoring in the pairs frame against Kelly and Bill Burton to level the match at 4-4.
Well played Arnold...that 7-1 earlier in the season seems an awful long time ago.
At Pegasus:
Steve Booth beat Alan Cunningham
Andy Orange lost to Kirk Wesselby
Daniel Norton lost to Andy Nicholls
Booth & Orange lost to Cunningham & Wesselby
At Arnold:
Mike Langdon lost to Sean Kelly
Ken Michell beat James Notman
Eric Towle beat Stan 'good job Arnold don't have a swear box' Candler
Towle & Langdon beat Kelly & Burton
To say that Steve had a "kind run of the balls" was a very diplomatic way of putting it. I nearly pulled it back needing just one snooker.
Just to clarify the position, I am not the skipper, I am the Rep for Arnold C.D. in the Naz House. Andy NICHOLS is the skipper of the 'B' team and it was he who played the 3rd leg against Danial NORTON.
Yes the 1-7 defeat seems a long way off and I dont suppose the 4-4 did either of us any good trying to make up the deficit on University.
Cheers Alan, i think your right, we're just playing for 2nd spot now. It's a 3 way battle betwen Arnold, Pegasus & Cotgrave to see who can get that 2nd place. And with us playing Cotgrave next you could find yourselves in prime position this time next week.
"Daniel Norton complete with new specs (shouldn't have bothered going to Specsavers!!!)"
I was wondering when the cheap gags would start. The force told me to throw them away in a lame attempt to draw attention from his good fortune against Alan. It was Arnold who were laughing though when they beat him and Andy in the doubles.
ANOTHER draw! We've had as many as Stadium now!
All to play for still. All four of the top 4 play each other next time out.
sorry mate...i'm better than that
