2010 Nottingham Grand Prix

Event 3 - Sunday March 21st, Pegasus Snooker Club

STOCKTON SECURES FIRST EVENT WIN

Jason Stockton became the third different Nottingham Grand Prix winner in as many events emphasizing the depth of quality fielded so far in this new tournament.  The likeable Stoke potter won the final 3-2 holding his nerve in a tense final frame finish to see off Nav Hussain.  In the opening round Stockton knocked in a 50 break as he swept aside Matlock's Martyn Taylor three nil before an excellent 3-1 victory over the number one ranked player Chris Winter in which he knocked in a 53 break.  In the semi-final his opponent Jamie Sampson was unfortunate to see the pink not only rattle in the pocket but jump up onto the frame and drop off the table to gift Stockton the chance he needed to secure a place in the final.  Stockton who picked up 3,000 ranking points for his win has lept up the table from 13th to 4th place.  Chris Winter remains in pole position followed by Nav Hussain and Wayne Martin. The Plate competition was won by Danny Castel-Nuovo, who beat Stewart Crosswell 3-1 in the final.  We have managed to put aside another £100 towards the Finals prize fund which now stands at £350.

I'm surprised you haven't instigated some sort of quirky points scoring system based on the number of times 'M' 'K' and 'N' appear in a players names!

Well you've gotta do what you gotta do to get in that top 16......CHEAT.

Really pleased with KO and Plate format as it offers so much more in the way of ranking points for us also rans whilst the ranking match you also get for your entry fee against someone of a similair standard is also useful offering 250 points for each frame won.

We played best of 5's all day yesterday and both finals were done and dusted by 7pm which is ideal.

Mike
