PRESS RELEASE

Nazareth House Snooker League ("NHSL") and Nottingham & Notts Institutes Association ("NNIA") have joined forces with Notts Billiards & Snooker Association ("NBSA") in an attempt to further increase participation in singles and pairs competitions next season.

At a meeting held at BCI Snooker Centre on 1st July 2010, the Committees of all three organisations unanimously agreed to streamline singles and pairs competitions with effect from the 2010/11 season.

The NBSA will take over the running of the NNIA's Junior, Intermediate and Senior singles competitions as well as its Scratch Pairs competition.  The NBSA will also take over the running of the NHSL's Singles League and Handicap Pairs competition.

No separate singles or pairs competitions will be run by the NHSL or NNIA.

The NBSA will continue to run its Notts Amateur Snooker Championship and the NHSL and NNIA will promote the competition to their members to further boost entries.

The NBSA's Junior Snooker Championship, which last season attracted only seven entries, will also benefit from better promotion by the NHSL and NNIA Committees.

The NBSA's Billiards Championship will be resurrected and promoted to NHSL and NNIA players.

The NBSA Committee has increased in size from three to seven members, namely Steve Butler, Robert Wright, Wayne Martin, Mike Langdon, Malcolm Belshaw, Alan Cunningham and Dave Gibson.

The new Committee will be responsible for the promotion and organisation of all nine competitions as well as the setting of player handicaps.

BCI Snooker Centre will sponsor the Notts Amateur Snooker Championship and the Billiards Championship.
Beeston Snooker Hall will sponsor the Junior Snooker Championship.
NNIA will sponsor the Senior and Intermediate Singles Championships.
Bulwell & District Snooker League ("BDSL") will sponsor the Junior Singles and Pairs Championships.
NHSL will sponsor the Singles League and Handicap Pairs Championship.

All NHSL, NNIA and BDSL players will receive free entry into all competitions except for the Notts Amateur Snooker Championship and Notts Junior Snooker Championship which will each have an entry fee of £10.

To summarise, the following competitions will be run next season:

1.   Amateur Snooker Championship
2.   Junior Snooker Championship (under 18's)
3.   Senior Singles (handicap competition open to all)
4.   Intermediate Singles (for players with handicaps of 14 and over)
5.   Junior Singles (for players with handicaps of 28 and over)
6.   Pairs

Yes it's all quite exciting.  I hope I draw you in the billiards so that you can show me how it's done!
