Title: Div 1 - Stadium Leisure 4-4 Cotgrave Welfare (15/01/08)
Post by: Ross on 16 January 2008
At Stadium, Alan Ball and Ted Cope started proceedings with a tentative frame. Ted made effective use of dead-weight shots to drop in a good number of reds and colours to gain a 22 lead, then consolidated this by potting a fortunate treble which started a 20 break to take the frame.
The 2nd frame threw up a tight exchange, due to almost all the reds over on one side of the table early on. Some cracking long pots by Pete Gormley and well laid snookers by Colin Armstrong delivered a pretty even frame, with Colin just taking it by 10 points.
Early safetely exchanges came in the 3rd with Ross Wilkin missing a few easy chances, but settling down later with a good 20 to put him 23 points clear on the last red. A good fight back from Phil Foster came with good snookers but Ross managed to take it with most of the colours at the end.
Lots of 'nip and tuck' single colour breaks came in the Doubles throughout to keep scores even but Ross Wilkin's steely determination on the last black saved a re-spotted black and then went on to pot this also for the frame.

Over at Cotgrave, Anthony McMahon should've cleared up to win the opening singles frame, but Steve Butler managed to sneak it in the end.
Mark Bradley lost out to Steve Richards in the 2nd, which turned out to be a scrappy game.
In the 3rd frame Harry Briody won fairly comfortably having built a good lead of 32, with only 27 points available by the end of the game.
The final Doubles left Steve Butler and Matt Ellis coming out on top on the last blue, while Briody and Cyrek had some awful luck going in-off a few times.
A hard fought match by both teams to result in a deserved draw.
