Sean Hopkin 3 - 1 Nick Kirkman

frame 1:
nick starting off well and going into a good lead and winning it by 20+ points in the end

frame 2:
sean not letting his head go down went into the colours 28 in front. sean potting yellow green brown to take match

frame 3:
both players not making any breaks. green onwards to go sean needing 1 snooker, green over the pocket but nick follows it through. sean then clears up to take the 3rd frame

frame 4:
in anger nick smashes the back open from the back because of the loss of the 3rd frame, nick somehow snookers sean from the break. Nick going for everything, brown onwards to go sean needs brown for win, nick pots brown and blue and goes in off on the pink and the frame goes to sean.

unlucky nick, good luck with the rest of the season mate!

Well Done ~~~~~8> Snake M8  ;)

A Great result and a cracking start to your debut singles league matey. Nicks a good experienced player so a awsome result Lad!!! I imagined the home advantage played a part to your good result, Bci can be a tough venue to play at if your not use to the match tables, i expect it to be alot closer on Nicks Ruddington return leg. I'm sure Nick will bounce back from this tricky opening match!!!

An impressive start though Snake, I was very pleased to see after you losing the first frame you keeping your cool and turned thing around! Well done Snake for not dropping your head and kept on plugging away, it did look like your patience paid in the second frame you looked like you was getting into your stride and cut out the rash shots!!!

Well done M8  :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

Enjoy and keep up the great work Snake

ALWAYS TOUGH TO PLAY AND BEAT ANYBODY ON THE BCI MATCH TABLE IN THE WORDS OF JOHN VIRGO 'IN ALL HONESTY' IT MUST BE TOUGH FOR PLAYERS TO GO TO THE BCI AND EXPECT TO WIN  IN THE WORDS OF WILLIE THORNE THE POTING THIS EVENING FROM BOTH PLAYERS WAS 'TOP DRAW' THERE WERE SOME VERY GOOD SAFETY THE FIRST TWO FRAMS WERE DECENT AND IT WAS A WELL DESERVED 1 A PEICE. THE 3RD FRAME NOBODY IN SNOOKER COULD HAVE LOST THE FRAME NICK DID WHEN GOING TO POT THE GREEN  FOR THE FRAME, HANGING OVER THE BAG HE MANAGE SOMEHOW TO FOLLOW THROUGH AND THEN IN THE LAST FRAME ONLY NEEDED THE PINK TO WINTHE FRAME AND WENT IN OFF UNBELEIVABLE BUT IT ONLY HAPPENS ON THE BCI MATCH TABLE

GOOD LUCK SEAN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS SEASON I HOPE YOU DO REALLY WELL YOUR A GOOD LAD WHO HAS LOTS OF POTENTIAL I HOPE YOU CAN KEEPIT UP,  IT'S A LONG SEASON THERE WILL NO DOUBT BE UPS AND DOWNS BUT KEEP YOUR CHIN UP YOUR AS GOOD AS ANYONE IN THE GROUP :welldone:

kwok - cheers matey!! i was not going to let my head go down because i knew it was all to play for, it ended up being a very good debut match in the singles league indeed, hopefully i can carry this on throughout the league and hopefully be fighting for 1st place!  ;)

sean - cheers sean, there was defonatly alot of safety and some good pots when needed from both of us, my first time ive ever played nick and it payed off nicely!!

nick - ye nick, the first 2 frames you won the 1st one with ease and then i won the 2nd one with ease. The 3rd frame was just a silly mistake from you but you shouldnt of got angry about it because if you leave someone green onwards to go anyone in div 1 is capable of cleaning them up.

the 4th frame was up and down. i only needed pink for win then somehow you got a jammy snooker   i didnt get out of it then you only needed pink, so within one shot the game changed completly, i honestly thought you was going to win it then, that sort of thing happens to me so much!!!

anyway overall it was good on the night, very nice to play you seeing as ive never played you in a match before!!!

good luck with the rest of the season!!!

well done sean! when i heard about your result i was genuinely pleased for u! didnt really see much of the action that went on in your match but after the first frame i knew you just had to stay calm and composed if you were to get any positive result and you must've done so again well done sean. of course now the hard thing to do is try to win your next game...then the next game after that.

btw, i think all that practice with me playing enduring tactical snooker must be paying off a bit on you helping towards your overall game!  ;)

Cary Davies 0-4 Sean Hopkin

Frame 1:
Both players potting ok, sean making a 23 break early on in the frame, Cary then pipped the points back, neither player making a big margin, going into the colours level, sean pots yellow, cary then pots green, brown, blue but misses pink, sean then pots pink and black for the win

Frame 2:
Sean potting well and making a margin between us, cary clawing the points back but then Sean made a good 28, Sean was then 47 points in front with 2 reds left, Sean then pots another red to secure the frame

Frame 3:
Both players not taking there chances like they should do, going into the colours with the scoreline very close, sharing the colours between both players and going down to a black ball game, but sean played a good cross double to win the match.

Frame 4:
Cary gave this frame to Sean

unlucky Cary, good luck with the rest of the seaon!!

:bravo: :bravo:

Great result for you Sean. I'm impressed sounds like a couple of close frames  went your way towards the end of the frame. Cary's a good solid player but tends to get frustrated with himself when he feels he should have done better. When he's playing well he's a very dangerous player. I thought this match maybe a draw just shows you how wrong you can be.
Well done again. :england: :welldone: :bravo:

Sean Hopkin 2-2 Mike Langdon

Frame 1:
Sean and Mike both got off to a shaky start but it was Sean who got out the blocks the fastest and with 1 red left Mike requiring one snooker, Sean potting red for first frame.

Frame 2:
Same frame as the first, Neither player taking there chances like they can, Going into the colours the scores was very close, goes down to a black ball frame, Mike leaves Sean a really tricky long black, Sean then hits it with alot of pace, wacks the middle of the yellow pocket, but some how the white went into the middle bag at such a acute angle!!!

Frame 3:
Sean still mad about the last frame but trying to put that behind him, Mike potting some very nice balls but missing the important ones, green onwards to go Mike flukes the green then pots brown and blue, Mike needing pink for the win, Mike misses the pink and leaves it safe. 13 in it with 13 on, a few shots later sean then pots pink, then after alot of good safety shot sean puts the black in. Mike wins the toss and puts sean in, Sean plays a good up and down shot, a few shots later sean leaves mike a easyish shot, Not letting the nerves get the better of him Mike pots it.

Frame 4:
Going into the 4th frame Sean feeling the nerves knowing he can only get a draw, Midway through the frame sean pulls away with a (30) break. Mike always playing catch up in the last frame it was Sean who won the last frame on the brown.

Very unfortunate in the 2nd and 3rd frame, Mike was saying how unlucky i was and hes very happy with a draw the way we played, O well, going to have to knuckle down with the rest of the season, Good luck with yours mike mate!!!!

:bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

Yep could easily have been 4-0 to Sean and I would have had no complaints so delighted with a point. You were desperately unlucky to go in-off on the black to gift me the 2nd frame...lady luck owed me that one from my last game against steve butler when I did the same thing.

Not playing great at the moment and really having to grind matches out as not very happy with my scoring. When playing well results tend to take care of themselves but it's these points you can pick up when your games not quite there that really make a difference come the end of the season so really happy.

Hard luck again Sean, keep up the hard work and we'll soon start to see your name appearing on quite a few trophies in the near future.

Cheers
mike

Well done Sean especially off the back of a heavy defeat to Ant Mcmahon. :welldone: :bravo:

Your right back in the hunt now, guess you will be waiting in anticipation of Ant's match to see if you join him at the top or indeed knock him off the top on frame difference, we play tomorrow though.  I think Steve is playing Shaun on Sunday so you will have to wait for that result.

Unlucky Jamie guess it wasn't your night but you looked in good Nick last week against Steve!!!!!

Thankyou Mate! Its not easy losing 4-0 then trying to get back on track, But i knew i had to win tonight to get back into the title race otherwise Jamie would of over took me and it would of been a mountain to climb from there. Make sure you win tomorow Nick!! Ill be your bestfriend forever!!!!
Title: Re: Sean Hopkin - fixtures & results
Post by: Nick Kirkman on 25 November 2010
As you already know Ant is a very tough player to beat, I've never played him before but I have a lot to lose also if I were to be beaten so you can be rest assured i'll give it 100%,  at least I have the advantage of being at home so there's a little hope ;)

This is turning out to be a fantastic league with so many players in with a chance hard to pick a winner right now.
I can see it being a four or five way go,    come to the last match of the season with me just NICKING it on frame difference.
Title: Re: Sean Hopkin - fixtures & results
Post by: seansnooker on 25 November 2010
Your going to be very tough to beat at home mate, Ant has certainly got no easy match and needs to be hoping hes played good!!!
I think its going to go down to frame difference to get a winner of this league, When i went 3-0 up toinght Jamie smashed them open from the break on frame 4 and i instantly said you shouldnt do that because the final result of the league could go down to frame difference and you could miss out of getting promoted simply because of 1 frame!

Anyway good luck tomorow mate, Ill be looking forward to your match report!

;) ;)

Unlucky Sean, you win some and you lose some as you will see in this division everyone will lose eventually.
Just remember your still bang there with every chance of winning this league its still too close to call.

Its going to be tough for anyone to go to Steve's and beat him on his own table.

What's this I hear about air holes in the ceiling??

o my, not the holes in the ceiling   the ceiling is quite low and i jabbed it about 2 times with my cue lol, after we played and jordan had a knock. in 2 frames jordan must of hit the ceiling with his cue about 9times, he still didnt relise how low the ceiling was lol!!!!

Sean Hopkin 4-0 Nick Kirkman

Going to try and write as little as possible because i know i bore everyone with my paragraphs

First frame Sean got a good 47 and missed the green for a 72 clearence, Nick and Sean both seem to be potting ok but Sean won the second by the time we got down to the colours, 3rd frame Nick playing good safety but Sean with his potting head on toinght getting plenty of 20+ breaks to win the frame. 4th frame Nick knowing he can only taking a frame off Sean. Nick going for his shots but a good 29 from Sean won him the frame comftably.

Hard luck Nick, Your a great person on and off the table and i hope you bounce back from this defeat and get back into the title race. Good luck with the rest of the season Nick!!!

Well done Sean I thought you played incredible tonight. I can't complain one bit I was out-played and out-classed through and through.
Your cueing was superb hence the great positional play and tactically I couldn't compete with your safety even though I was trying too.
Your all round game as improved 100% since the last time we played your a total different player and I think within the next 12 months you will be up there with the likes of Wayne, Jason and Jamie etc.

I was impressed mate I hold my hands up I played pretty decent, not great but no excuses I don't think I would have won against you in that kind of form at anytime. I was out-classed.

I will be shocked if you lose another match in Division 1 this season and now you are top of the league or thereabouts its in your hands.

Good Luck mate see you in 2 weeks for the NNIA league match. :welldone: :bravo: ;)

Sean Hopkin 3-1 Jamie Sampson

First frame Jamie got off to a solid start, Sean always playing catch up and Jamie knocked in a fantastic 40 to seal it. Second frame Sean knew he didnt have a easy match. Sean potting well takes the frame. 3rd frame both players playing ok, Sean having alot of run and evenually running out winner. 4th frame pressure on, Jamie takes a good lead with 2 reds left, Sean then pots both reds with colours and yellow, then misses green. Sean evenually potting green, Sean then leaves Jamie a half chance on brown, Jamie flukes the brown and also to see the white roll in, Sean then pots brown, blue to go 17 in front with 13 on. Jamie then gets a great snooker on the pink but i good escape from Sean. Few shots later Sean pots the pink to seal the win.

Hard Luck Jamie, I had alot of run in the 2nd and 3rd frame, 4th frame could of gone either way, Good luck with the rest of the season mate!!!!!

A great result for you Sean almost in the bag after a totally desecrated league which is now turned into a joke.
I go away for a week only 4 points off the top with every chance of still winning it and I come back to see I have been demoted to the bottom. Why the results of the  first half of the season couldn't stand i'll never know if a football match is abandoned at half-time the half-time result stands.

In this instance it's worse because of the results in the first half season has given the bottom 4 players no chance at all putting us out of reach of trying to catch up. Waste of time money and effort such a shame, it was the best league to be involved in as well.

Just one example: you lost against Ant 4- 0 , and Steve Mike and myself got draws so the 2 points and frame diff for you was a help and top of that us three all conceded a further point so putting us effecively 3 points adrift and worse off with the frame diff.

Mathematically I could have won before the change but probably wouldn't have who knows?. The point is...is it worth carrying on to the end of the season after all that effort has been taken away from the first half of the season.

Wish I'd Stayed on holiday

I will play to the end of the season because I love playing snooker and I will never drop out of a team or league during the season but you can't help feeling you have lost heart in it when this happens.

Just one thing to add if I decided to drop out of the league today, how will that equate to the standings of the league?
It wouldn't look very good.

Aup Nick!

I could be here forever talking about the situation, But too sum it up i just think its disgusting how the've commieted there selfs into something and havn't seen it through, they should not be aloud in it again in my opion. I feel for you because i know theres not a chance you can win the league now but before hand there was always that chance you could, but like you say 'anything can happen'

I spoke to Mike about it the other day and i suppose the good thing is nobody is going to be relagated in division 1. No matter how bad life is surely they must have the time to go out for 2 hours to play 4 frames, They can arrange the matches to when suits them.. But whats done is done now Nick and i hope you dont scoop to there standard and drop out. Just see the season through now and make sure you win it next year.

See you tomorow mate!

OMG!!! your not coming tomorrow are you

I haven't picked up a cue since we last played but that might be a good thing ;)

Yes I agree with you it's disgusting and we can go on and on about this forever, just have to put a line through it.

Well done in the Cup as well. If we get another away draw ill be miffed,  I think we have had one home draw in the past three seasons, I think someones forgetting its the exact same distance for us to go to there place as well as them coming to us but we shall see.

See you tomorrow.

Yeah mate, I shall be coming tomorow... Maybe i might play you then:-)

I know you would never scoop down to there level mate, But its not Steve or Mikes fault, When they dropped out Steve just did what he had to do with the fixtures, it even lost him a few points to which is a shame. Its still going to go down to the wire anyway i think!

Its just the luck of the draw i suppose!!

Hi Nick. Yeah really sorry about the drop-outs, it's so frustrating and I'm devastated about it. This league had been brilliant with not only an exciting title race but also a fascinating relegation dog fight building up. Myself and Steve work really hard to promote the singles league and it's really damaging to the image when players drop out no matter how good their reasons are.

I totally understand your feelings of 'what's the point' and can only apologise for basically selling a product that's faulty.

I still believe we're in for an exciting finish and I'm sure you'll still have a big say in the final outcome, sadly not in the way you had hoped after losing your hard earned points.

The reason the points were scratched is due to some played Cary or Ant away whilst others enjoyed home advantage. Personally I'm happy with re-stating these results but perhaps we need to check with everyone else first.

Apologies once more

Mike

Aup Mike, Its certainly not your fault. I dont think you sold a 'faulty product' because its not your fault and you didnt know half way through the season 2 players was going to drop out. Like you say the points had to be scratched because of the home and away advantage, I had to play Ant at beeston and as everybody knows its such a tuff venue to play at and get a result. I think the league needs to stay how it is now and just see it through and be careful who you let in the league again next year,

As Sean said its not yours or Steve's fault. As for the points being re-instated,  with now only 4 matches left instead of six makes the task just as difficult, we just have to put it down to one of those things no matter how we feel about it.

I'm not so sure about the exciting finish if no one is going to be relegated and its only a two horse race now anyway.

Just playing for pride now I guess ;)

Beating Steve on his own table is going to be the hardest thing I have ever done

Nick you guys can still cause upsets on deciding whos going to be the winner of the league, when i went 1-0 down toinght i never felt so nervous, i was missing some easy pots simply because of nerves, it was such a relief to pot the final blue to win 3-1, Jamie is no push over and certainly a very good player!

Sean Hopkin 4-0 Mike Langdon

Sean playing solid throughout, Getting a break of 30 to win him the first. 2nd frame Mike leading most of the way through, But a good snooker from Sean then got some of the points back from Mike. Blue, Pink and Black left Mike pots a good blue, A cross double playing it as a shot to nothing but sticks it up for Sean to take pink and black to win the 2nd. Cant remeber much of the 3rd and 4th frame, But Sean did enough to win by the time we got down to the colours.

Hard luck Mike, Always a plessure playing you captain!!!

Yep well played Sean  :bravo:

Have been really impressed with your consistency over the last couple of months...all very impressive.
Really annoyed I missed that pink into the middle in the second frame when 20 odd points up as was perfect on the next red and I think another colour would have left you needing a snooker. Big if, but had I won that frame it may have put your game under a little pressure and given me a much needed shot in the arm.

You can't remember the last couple of frames as you were to busy enjoying yourself potting balls and they were both very one sided.

Well played mate you're a star and it's brilliant to watch you play

Touching The Title!!!!

Sean Hopkin 2-2 Shaun Parkinson

Sean Rapidly went into a 2-0 lead over Shaun, Both players going for there shots but Sean coming out on top in both frames. By the 3rd frame the Tables changed and no matter where Sean put the cue ball Shaun was slamming them in! 4th frame pressure on.. Scoreline tight all the way through the frame, But then Sean trys to break away on a break of 21, Pots a difficult pink to the corner. Takes his eye off the table and lifts his cue up only to see his cue go right into the reds! (Dont think ive ever done that before lol)After this mistake Sean could not get back into the frame and lost total concentration. Pink and Black left Shaun needs them both, Shaun pots a cracking pink and just over runs it for the Black. A few safety shots later Shaun pots a cracking black.

Well done Shaun, You deserved the draw after that mistake i made!!!!

P.S. Sorry Mike!

I would have to beat Jamie 4-0 and then you 4-0 to take the title from you.  That ain't gonna happen, so well done champ!

:bravo: :welldone: :bravo:

Danny Castel-Nuovo has had to pull out of this Saturday's Notts v Derbyshire match.  I have asked all the remaining scratch and +7 players if they want to take his place but none of them have responded.  I am now at +14's so if you want to play let me know.  You will need to be there at 10.30am and it will finish approx. 7pm.  It will cost you £10 which will pay for the trophies.

Sean Hopkin 2-2 Steve Butler

Sean going into a 2-0 lead with quite a few mini breaks, Sean very tired after playing all day but trying his best to keep the dangerous Steve off the table, 3rd frame going down to the colours, Steve snatching it on the brown. 4th frame lots of good safety, Sean then makes a 39 break and misses the last red down the black rail, The last red was frame ball, Steve is 35 behind with 35 remaining, Few safety shots later Steve pots red black, Steve then lays a fantastic snooker, Sean misses it by a wisker, To top it off only to see the white go in off, Ball in hand Steve clears the colours up.

Well done Steve, You deserved the draw, I had too many chances and didnt deserve to beat a player like yourself the way i played!!!

Title: Re: Sean Hopkin - fixtures & results
Post by: Steve Butler on 20 March 2011
Thanks for doing the write up Sean.  I can't remember much about the match except that I couldn't pot a ball.  I am very pleased to have got a draw considering how I played.  Neither of us played particularly well although you got in amongst the balls quite a few times and every time you looked like you were going to make a big break.  You just ran out of position a bit too much.  Although when you did you didn't take on any silly pots but instead you played good safety.  It's really noticeable how this side of your game has improved throughout the season.

It's been a good season in division 1.  It was a shame that Ant and Cary had to pull out but they had very genuine reasons for doing so.

Looking back at the season, you only lost one match (3-1 to me).  I lost twice to Jamie at Pegasus and then to Mike on my table.  That defeat to Mike was particularly costly but fair play to him, he was tactically far superior to me that night.

Anyway, well done Sean on winning the league and I hope you do well in Premier B next season.  I have no doubt your handicap will drop to 7 or even scratch if you carry on improving at the current rate.

:bravo: :welldone: :bravo:
