Title: KO Cup: Pegasus A 621-385 Gotham RBL (08/02/11)
Post by: Steve Butler on 08 February 2011
There's not much to say about the away leg at Pegasus other than we were outplayed.  Jamie Mathers had a very good 49 break and Mark Taylor had a couple of 20+ breaks which could have been 50's.  Dan even managed a double to keep the crowd happy!  Well done Pegasus.

At Gotham HQ . . .
Up first Steve Howard and Wayne Martin . . .no breaks of note for either player in this frame,(correct me if i'm wrong Wayne),lots of great safety from both players though.
Wayne got going early, but i was shocked when he broke down so soon, and i was left an easy red to middle, with easy pink to follow,i messed up after potting the pink, and missed the next shot, with open reds begging to be potted.A little later on,i had potted a long range red,and fell nicely on black, all that was needed was to pot it with open reds all around, what did i go and do . . .yep! missed the bloody thing!
So Wayne in again, potted a few more, and come the end of the frame,Wayne had done enough to secure the frame, winning by 33 points.
Thoroughly enjoyed our frame Wayne, that is apart from me having cueing issues, and not making a decent break, like i know i can, still i'll get there, well played mate!

Next up,Dave Griffiths, who potted well, but missed pots he knew he shoulda' got,and he knew it.Gary Spencer was his opponent, and Gary will be first to admit, that he wasn't on song at all tonight, and Dave took advantage of this and played safe when he needed to,and doing enough to win his frame by 19 points.Unlucky Gary,i know what you're going through mate,i'm having issues as well mate . . .
Well played both of you though . . .

Next was Nick, and completely missed his first red gifting Nav Hussain 4 points, which we could ill afford to be giving away.I think this missed red set the tone for the way Nick's frame went, and when Nick left Nav in with an easy starter,Nav didn't need to be asked twice. He speedily fired in a well constructed 47 break, and if it hadn't been for losing position, i feel sure the break woulda' been higher still. So well played Nav!

Nick towards the end potted yellow to blue, annoyed at missing the pink in baulk,as black was begging to be potted straight after, it was hanging right next to the middle bag,so a clearance of 27 on the colours went begging.Nick,is struggling it's fair to say with his game right now,and i know it's frustrating to see what you want to do,but not achieve it.Bad luck Nick, but Nav was in form it's fair to say. . .

Finally,Steve/Nick v Wayne/Nav and correct me if i'm wrong i don't recall any breaks of note in this frame either?
But all four potting when chances presented themselves, though Steve and Nick not potting enough to make any headway, and Nav and Wayne winning the frame by only 33 points in the end,but was enough on the night and overall Pegasus winning the match . . .

Well played Pegasus . . .  :welldone:

Good luck in the next match lads . . .
