Title: Stadium 5-3 Cotgrave (30/10/07)
Post by: Pete on 31 October 2007
SPOOKY STADIUM NOTCH FIRST WIN

A mystery caller contacted Cotgrave saying Stadium had insufficient players to put out a team and that the match would have to be cancelled.  However, this was not the case and after a lengthy delay the match got underway.

At Stadium, Barry Stark had a comfortable win with a solid performance.
Mark Allen had two 20+ breaks on the way to a convincing win.
Pete Gormley's frame was much tighter but he eventually drew away into a 29 point lead with just the colours on the table.  Unfortunately, Geordie Colin from Cotgrave didn't realise that he needed a snooker and he potted Y,G,B,B & Pink thinking he had won the frame, when in fact he had lost.  The players had a good laugh about it though!
Gormley and George Andreou contested a very tight doubles frame.  The Stadium pair had the run of the balls with Gormley fluking the blue leaving the Cotgrave pair needing a snooker that they were unable to get.  Stadium 4-0 Cotgrave.

At Cotgrave, Steve Butler played Anthony McMahon.  McMahon made his knowledge of the home table count, running out an easy winner.  Billy Johnson beat Mark Bradley.  Matt Ellis sealed his first win of the season against John Gill, helped along the way by a fine 25 break.  In the pairs, Bradley & Butler played McMahon & Johnson in a very tight frame.  The Stadium pairing opened up a healthy lead late on in the frame, however this just seemed to spur McMahon on and he potted Y,G,B,B, & Pink to steal the frame and secure a 3-1 home victory for Cotgrave.

Match result: Stadium 5-3 Cotgrave
