In the 1st frame at Sherwood there was some sensible play from Steve Butler, making certain on his colours to leave Shane Huntington needing a snooker at the final colours. After a few fouls from both players, Steve took the frame with a 20 break.
In the 2nd, both Pete Gormley and Garreth Evans started with some confident pots with Pete doing well to match Garreth's aggressive play. A fairly even game but Pete managed to stretch his lead to take the frame.
Ross Wilkin started the next frame with some loose safety shots that let an in form Mick Salton start racking up some points with clinical 21 and 25 breaks, who went on to make light work of the rest of the frame to win it comfortably.
In the doubles game there were tight safety exchanges between R.Wilkin, S.Butler and G.Evans, S.Huntington initially. Ross managed to find a little form to get a tricky 11 break but missed a golden opportunity, leaving Sherwood some easy pots. Stadium managed to stay in contention to the last 3 colours with some solid play from Steve but Ross missed an easy Blue to let Sherwood take the frame.

Meanwhile, at Stadium, Barry Stark kicked off proceedings with an excellent 39 break to take the 1st frame from Les Smith.
In the 2nd frame, there was a tight evenly matched game between Matt Ellis and Paul Bell, with Paul managing to win the frame on the final Black.
Clary Plowman took the 3rd frame comfortably from Andy Fitton to keep Stadium ahead on points.
In the final singles frame in this match, Mark Allen and Kev Smith had a tight game but Mark managed to stay solid and made some excellent final shots under some pressure to win the game.
