OPEN SERIES
Liam Highfield won the 8th Event of the series from 16 players defeating Darren Burns 3-2 in the final overall 79 players have competed so far during the year.
Highfield had lost 4-0 to Burns earlier in the day in the top half of the draw gaining revenge in the final although his opponent on his debut outscored the PIOS winner with breaks of 44 and 79.
The winner climbs to 5th in the rankings in which fellow Potteries player Simon Seabridge still leads from Kristian Willetts, Joe Jogia is 3rd and Steve Mooney 4th.
Highfield beat Adam King 4-0, Willetts 3-0 and travelling companion Mike Smith 3-1 who made a 63 break.
Burns made a break in 54 during his defeat of Highfield then German Julian Brieir
4-0, Joe Jogia 3-2 and Steve Martin 3-1 who had beaten Main Tours Paul Davies 4-3.
UNDER 17?S
James Jelley won the 1st event of the move beating Ashik Nathwani 4-1 in the final from just 3 entrants.
The 2nd event was cancelled the day before play but 3 players turned up from outside of the county on the day and the local players were hastily contacted and the competition took place with 7 players.
Long time rankings leader Sameer Knight closed the gap on current leader James Jelley beating his club mate 2-0 in the final.
The Grand Finals of this event in December has been cancelled due to the lack of support in this long standing event in which the Worlds current top 4 have all competed.
HANDICAP
The Handicap is still the top event at Leicester 30 players took part this month Rob Berryman +35 won his first title beating Dipesh Patel +42 2-0 in the final.
Ben Woollaston ?42 reached the plate final conceding starts of 100,42,84 and 100 and spilt the pot with Newark youngster Ryan Barnsdale +70.
