KYREN WILSON WINS IN BIRMINGHAM

Kyren Wilson, Kettering captured his first English title winning the 4th English Premier Junior Tour, Rileys, Erdington, Birmingham defeating Nick Jennings, Winchester 4-2 in the final.

With breaks of 65 and 68 Wilson took a 2-0 lead against Jennings, Wilson extended his advantage to 3-1 on the black and should have closed out the match in the next frame the pink jumped back out of the pocket, Jennings duly cleared for 3-2.

The 6th frame almost went to the wire Wilson potting the pink to earn a well deserved win after making 15 breaks over fifty during the weekend.

The top three in the rankings remain the same Liam Highfield 591, Michael Wasley 546, Jack Lisowski 532, Jennings 516 climbs to 4th just pushing out of European Under 19 place by two frames Wilson 514.

Wilson also missed out on the cancelled World Under 21?s last year.

Alex Dunkley 456 is 6th , Mitchell Mann 7th  425 and Event 3 winner Sam Craigie 8th  408 who did not qualify from the group stage this time.

There have been seven different finalists this season only Liam Highfield who made a 147 in the first event appearing in two finals, winning Event 1.

Wilson topped his Group B losing one match in which twenty six breaks over fifty are recorded, Group C also weighed in with twenty four plus fifty?s, Jennings came 2nd in Group F behind Ben Harrison.

From the last 32 the winner accounted for Ryan Causton 4-3 from 2-0 down finishing with an 80 break, Kamran Ashraf also 4-3 this time leading 3-0, Alex Dunkley 4-2 breaks of 59,68 and 69 and lastly Ben Harrison 4-2 who led 2-0 with a 76.

Jennings opened with a 4-0 win over Gene Lam, 53 break, John Astley 4-2, Jennings led 3-0, Astley 65 and 79 for 3-2, high scoring Jack Lisowski, 116, 4-3 from 3-2 down winning the 6th frame on the black the decider 70-1 and Stuart Carrington 4-0 breaks of 52 and 56.

Jack Lisowski also made 15 breaks over fifty topped by four century?s 141, 139, 120 and 116 his Gloucester colleague Michael Wasley who lost 4-1 to Billy Castle in the last 32 made breaks of 140 and 100.

Stuart Carrington and Daniel Hildyard made 120?s, Mitchell Mann two tons 109 and 101, Gareth Green 116, Ryan Causton and Sam Thistlewhite 105, Jennings 14 plus fifty?s topped by a 101, Dunkley and Highfield 100.

Group winners
Unbeaten Lisowski, Harrison, Mann and Syd Wilson losing one match Astley, Highfield the leader lost 4-3 to Dunkley in the last 16, Wilson and Danny McCann.
