Pegasus lost to Arnold Civil Defence 'A' by 7 points.

Pegasus were dumped out of this years knock-out cup, losing to Arnold Civil Defence ?A? for the second time in as many weeks. At Arnold Jamie Mathers gave Pegasus a dream start as he enjoyed his second victory this season over Gary Spencer winning comfortably by 54 points.  In the big match-up of the evening Chris Brooks finished strongly against Chris Winter in a tactical frame to put the away leg two-up and increase our points total but Arnold?s James Notman won on the black to pip Mike Langdon in the third frame.  At Pegasus however, things weren?t going quite as well. Chris Piech was well beaten in his frame against Tony Hart as his inexplicable poor performances against Arnold continued.  Steve Booth narrowly lost to Malc Belshaw by 10 points but Scott Bates responded for Pegasus with an excellent 40 point victory over Brian Kinton to keep Pegasus ahead in the match.  At the end of season post-mortem Pegasus may well focus on their inability to win a doubles frame against the Champions this season as once again this proved to be the teams achilles heel. Chris Piech and Steve Booth lost to Arnold?s Belshaw and Kinton all of which meant that the partnership of Brooks and Langdon needed to avoid losing by more than 25 points against the Arnold pairing of Winter and Spencer to progress into the semi-finals. It was the Arnold pair who came out on top of some good early safety exchanges to lead by 19 points with two reds remaining.  Mike Langdon potted the penultimate red and screwed back for the last red from the pink to leave a tricky cut into the corner, which he took on and missed! This proved a costly mistake for the Pegasus team as Gary Spencer calmly wrapped up the match with what would have been a 34 clearance but for going in off on the final black which got the mathematicians excited but it could not save the tie for Pegasus as Arnold Civil Defence ?A? progressed in the competition with a slender 7 point win.

Sounds like another classic encounter between the league equivalent of Arsenal v Man Utd!  I think we should think about camcording the next one!

well i'm glad this one wasn't recorded as you would of seen my stupid attempt on the last red....why oh why did i not play safe???  I think i was already writing a glorious match report which went something like 'Langdon was the unlikely hero who cleared up to win match for Pegasus' etc

I feel like the player who's missed in a penalty shoot-out

and it's affecting my sleep

I know exactly what you mean, a bit of 'red mist' with the adrenalin flowing and going for glory. I assume by your comment that by that time you knew the result from Pegasus and you knew what was needed. I was obviously away with the 'B' team but I understand it was a great atmosphere and everyone is looking forward to the final encounter on the 18th March which will no doubt decide the outcome of the season. Perhaps, at Steves suggestion, it would be worth someone with a cam-corder recording a couple of scenes ! !.

Yeah was a great atmosphere, despite our failure to beat your 'A' team this season i absolutely love playing in these matches what with all the tension with so much at stake...i guess it's why we choose to play league snooker.

As for my sleepless nights, John Virgo has somehow found his way into my nightmares.  I put my head on the pillow miss the red and then i hear it....."for me that was the wrong shot".

I really need to get my head straight as we have a tough match against BCI next

Congrats to yourselves by the way on also making the Semi-finals presume you'll be hoping to avoid the 'A' team.
