Arnold 'B' 4 v Oakleigh 4 - 29.01.08

Arnold at home with agreement of both captains elected to play 4 singles. Arnold got off toa good start with wins for Sean KELLY, Bill BURTON and Ken CUNNINGHAM but Pete ELLINS lost is 100% record.  ARNOLD 3-1 winners.

At Oakleigh it was a different story - Alan C made a traditional break against Jason McKENNA  but he potted a tremendous red followed by the black AND 3 other reds and blacks, a break of 32. Alan clawed his way back with the help of a lucky double for an 18 break. Jason was snookered on the last red but fluked it in the middle bag followed by the blue. With the green on the table Alan was 24 behind, he took the g,b,and blue and went for the pink in the top right with the black sitting near the pocket. He jawed the pink, end of frame 45-63. Stan CANDLER playing Steve ROWE had a bad night, managed to pot THREE reds and when he went-in-off the penultimate red he conceded 3-53. Andy NICHOLS had a dogged frame against Rob SELBY but he double kissed the pink and pushed it over the top corner bag with the black on its spot. End of frame 47-53. In the pairs Alan & Stan took on Jason & Rob, Arnold were cruising 30 odd in front but Alan played a loose safety and went in-off, Jason made a 22. Arnold kept in front until the blue which Alan potted but run in-off to the centre trying to get position on the pink. Alan eventually did pot the blue and played the pink round the table leaving it about a foot from the top pocket, Jason went for it rattled the jaws it shot across to other corner and rattled and back across to its original pocket, sticking on the lip. Stan stepped forward and took pink and black for the frame 63-53.  THREE black ball frames, Arnold lost 1-3.  TOTAL 4 - 4.  Another good night with the Oakleigh lads.
