Congratulations to Toby Simpson on winning  the Newark Cue Club October handicap.
Simpson (+42) defeated Wayne Martin (Scr) 3 nil in a one sided final, making a solid 35 break in the second frame.

Simpson took home £70 as the winner, with Martin taking home £40.

Simpson defeated Dave Jobling (Scr) in the semi finals by 3 frames to 1.
Wayne Martin beat Bob Sard (+63) 3-2 in a terrific match that went down to the wire. Sard went 2 nil up and Martin made breaks of 65,62,40,35 to win on the brown in the decider.

Of the Nottingham contingent:
Sean Hopkin (+28) went out in the qtr finals to Wayne Martin by 3 frames to 1. Martin making a 61 in the fourth frame.
Danny Castel-Nuovo (+14) went out in the last 16 to Dave Jobling. Jobling making a 79 on his way to victory.
Nav Hussain (Scr) lost in the last 16, going out 3-2 on the final black to Bob Porter (+63).
Malc Belshaw (+21) went out in the last 16 to Sean Hopkin by 3 frames to 2.
Steve Whitehouse (+21) went out in the last 16 to Wayne Martin by 3 frames to nil.
Neil Elliott (+14) went out to 3-1 to Bob Sard in the last 16.


Nav Hussain (Scr) won the plate with a victory over Neil Elliott (+14). Hussain taking home £40 and Elliott £10.

We've put Toby on an NBSA handicap of +21, hope we haven't been too harsh!

We had very tough draws due to the generous handicap for a few local players but i think wayne did very well to get into the final, he was giving some crazy starts and to progress to the final is a good achievement.

May go to the next one, need to practice harder !!!!!!!  :laugh:  :laugh:

Steve - I think we have his handicap right. He will definetly be cut by Dave for the next Newark comp.
But Dave didn't know his standard yesterday so couldn't make a judgement call, which I totally agreed with.

Toby is a very good player and on the day I couldn't live with him off +42, 21 may have been more suitable.
But he played great all day and well done to him, he beat some good players to win.

 Thank you for your compliments Wayne it means a loat mate!  It was a great day and i believe i did justify myself for the win. How ever I think that my very high handicap didn't give you a fair chance if im honest. Was a great day and a pleasure to play in the tournament against some great people!

thank you to all of the lads from nottingham for making the trip from notts again and making the day rearly good and enjoyable to run the comp, well done to toby hope you liked the day and the club,the next comp is on sunday the 7th nov 11 am start,i hope to see you all again,thanks wayne for your support in putting the results on the forum.
