Pegasus duo Chris Brooks and Dan Castel-Nuovo defeated BCI's Jamie Moore and Jason Bettridge 3-1 in the All Sports Tours County Cup final on Wednesday evening.



Frame 1: Chris Brooks 65-35 Jason Bettridge
Brooks had a run of 25 which gave him an early lead.  Bettridge managed to reduce the arrears mid-frame but Brooks soon pushed on again and he found himself 23 ahead with 25 remaining.  An attempted long pot on the green from Bettridge missed by some distance and this allowed Brooks back in to pot frame ball.

Frame 2: Dan Castel-Nuovo 43-67 Jamie Moore
Castel-Nuovo got off to a good but unimpressive start in this frame but a nice 31 break from Moore turned things around.  Moore laid a terrific snooker on the green and Castel-Nuovo failed to escape from it on three occasions leaving Moore a simple pot.  Moore potted green and brown to leave Castel-Nuovo needing a snooker and when the Pegasus player went in-off he conceded the frame.

Frame 3: Brooks/Castel-Nuovo 64-26 Moore/Bettridge
With the match delicately poised at 1-1 both pairs knew the importance of winning this frame.  It was a good quality frame and Brooks/Castel-Nuovo were first to produce a break.  A fine run of 29 only came to an end when Castel-Nuovo missed a relatively straightforward pink off the spot.  Moore/Bettridge hit back with runs of 6 and 16 but Brooks/Castel-Nuovo replied with a 5.  This should have been more but Castel-Nuovo refused to use the spider, opting instead for the normal rest and his dismal miss forced him to turn to the jar of wine gums in the corner of the room!  This seemed to do the trick as Brooks/Castel-Nuovo were soon back in with a run of 21 which left Moore/Bettridge needing snookers.

Frame 4: Chris Brooks 62-24 Jamie Moore
The fourth frame opened with a run of 6 from Moore followed by some good safety play before Brooks had a run of 14.  Moore soon drew level at 14-14 but Brooks made a 16 break to take the initiative.  A run of 23 from Brooks put him 34 ahead with just 25 on the table.  Moore fought for snookers but the frame and match was conceded when Brooks potted a good long blue.

Congratulations to Chris Brooks and Dan Castel-Nuovo for winning the first ever County Cup.  This new format has proved very popular and will no doubt be making a return next season.

All four players will receive their trophies at the presentation dinner on 31st July 2012.
