Arnold 'B' 3-5 Mapperley (05/02/08)

Its all falling apart, 3-5 this week and 4-4 last week.
At Mapperley Alan CUNNINGHAM, working on previous form and results paired himself against Andy ?, leaving Bill BURTON to play against untried (recently) Len WHITE and Ken CUNNINGHAM against Tony VOCATURO. It all went terrible wrong and Arnold lost all 3 singles, Alan playing a stupid safety off the final black and managed to stick it up over the middle bag. Alan & Bill in the pairs against Andy and Len never got into it and were beaten easily.
At home Sean KELLY 64 beat Don MERRY 15,  Stan CANDLER 49 beat Chris STAR 34, Andy NICHOLS 53 beat Chris WRIGHT 51 when the latter went in-off the black. The away team got back just as the home pairs was starting -  Sean and Pete ELLINS against Chris and Don and the home team knew what was required. It was neck and neck and Don put put the visitors in the driving seat with a good 29 break leaving the black over the corner bag. With 3 reds left it was still nip and tuck, Sean, with a chance to clear and win the frame took the last red with the blue followed by y, g, b and blue but rattled the pink. A couple of more shots each but Pete double-kissed the pink and Chris stepped forward to sink it into the corner giving Mapperley the frame and the match.
