At Pegasus, Steve Howard won convincingly against Andy Orange to put Gotham 1-0 up, although I think Orange had other things on his mind tonight!

Steve Butler took on Steve "The Force" Booth in frame 2.  Butler opened up a decent 20 point lead early on before wrapping the frame up with a 56 break consisting of 6 x red, pinks then yellow, green, brown and blue.  Tricky long pink was missed but the important thing was that Gotham were now 2-0 away from home.

Steve Burrows played Chris Mathers next.  It was a tight frame to begin with but Burrows made a good 19 break and Mathers soon found himself needing snookers.  Gotham now 3-0 up going into the pairs.

The pairs frame saw Howard & Burrows play Booth & Orange.  It was an enjoyable frame as Orange talked constantly about things that were on his mind.  There were a few fouls from both sides but the Gotham pair made a few small breaks and eventually found themselves 42 points ahead with just 25 remaining.  Booth tried to prolong the frame in the hope that the club would close before the final ball was potted but Orange saw sense and made him concede.

A great 4-0 away win for Gotham and a terrific 7-1 win overall that moves Gotham all the way up to 2nd on frame difference ahead of Pegasus C.

well done on making your 56 break - i like the bold emphasis !! was there much more on had you potted the pink??. Just for curiosity, what is your highest break ??

cheers, Bash

Might be an idea to have a record of all the players highest breaks somewhere on the forum - would be an interesting read.

P.s i wouldn't count my 154 as i was just messing about practising on my own.

My highest break in a practice frame is 145 and my highest in a match is 139 at Willie's.

has anyone had a maximum, brook's, wayne .....etc  ??????

My highest break is 86 Bash.  I got it in a pairs frame in an NHSL league match a couple of years ago.  My avatar shows me holding a picture that my team mates bought me to commemorate it!  Up until that one, my previous highest was only 59 so it was a bit of a one-off.  I missed the pink in that break too, could have had a 99 clearance!

I started recording high breaks on THIS THREAD a while ago but it's not been updated for a few months.

Enjoyable night of snooker at Pegasus, with gr8 break tonight from Steve Butler with his 56,well done my friend, and myself and Steve Burrows did enough on the night to win and record a pleasing 4 -0 win away . . .

It was fun and banter all the way, with Andy Orange and Steve 'The Force' Booth both chattering away during our doubles frame, but i could only listen and laugh along whilst trying to pot balls, but . . .always a lively night when these pair are around . . .

Great night out lads.and we 'Gotham' . . . look forward to your company again very soon . . .

Well done to all, regardless of the final result . . .

Great bunch of guys are Pegasus C,unlucky tonight lads,i think you'll agree you also had alot of bad luck in your frames . . .

See you all again soon . . .

Well done Gotham – although the score could have been alot different in some tight frames at Gotham, with Pegasus eventually losing 3-1 away.

Steve Kent 69 – 29 Dan 'Sicknote' Norton
Dan never really got going in this one. Steve made some solid pots and didn't give Dan too many chances, and when he did Dan couldn't make the most of them with Steve taking the frame on the colours. Fortunately Dan had already got his excuse sorted on the way to Gotham saying he felt sick and then spending the few minutes before his frame in the toilet!

Dave Griffith 48 – 24 Eric Towle
Eric didn't get much luck in this one, Dave potted well and had plenty of run of the ball not really leaving anything, and when Eric finally got in he ran out of position. Eric battled on but then fluked the brown when he wanted a snooker and with the black right over the bag and the pink near the cushion he couldn't get the required snooker on the blue and Dan potted this to win.

Nick Kirkman 56 – 45 (24) Matt Hearson-Ellis
Matt was aware of Nick being a dangerous opponent and this turned out to be a very good safety battle. Matt got in early making a well crafted 24 from 3 reds and blacks but then missed a fairly straightforward red to keep it going. From there on it was nip and tuck and Matt had chances to win it on the colours but his solid play deserted him and Nick duly wrapped up the frame with an easy pink.

Steve / Nick 11 – 54 Eric / Matt
The only thing i can really remember about this frame was Nick unscrewing his cue and congratulating us! I was bemused having just potted a red and black and then having to play safe – i thought Steve and Nick were much closer than that!

Well played Gotham i make that 1-1 this season with you ahead on frame difference!
Looking forward to the decider later on and i fancy pitting my wits against Butler!

Steve Kent potted really well taking a lot of blacks and pinks with each red which gave him a commanding lead in his frame.

Crafty Dave Griffiths is a very good match player when he is playing well, he plays a lot of balls with an element of safety in mind which kept Eric out of the picture for much of the frame.

I thought you played very well Matt pretty solid all the way through. Great long potting and a decent 24 early on. I had  a 16 to start the frame off and then played catch up for much of the frame. When we got to the colours the frame was so close that anybody could win it and I think thats why we both started missing relatively easy chances. It was a tough pink to play down the rail with a rest and was almost certain to stay over the pocket should you miss it. Frame was anybodies!!

In the pairs we were on the back foot from the off,  unfortunately for Steve, everytime he went to the table he left an easy red on and Eric punished him and before we could get into the frame we were 43 behind with one red left. Completely different frame of snooker from the three singles frames and was over in about 10mins.

Hey Matt!!
Well,if you fancy 'pitting your wits' against your doubles partner, then you'll need to make arrangements next time for you to stay at Pegasus then, and get one of your other players over to Gotham HQ,next time ok?

Good win for you and Eric in the pairs frame, you lot had a much better night last time you came . . .

I was particularly impressed with our 'Kenty' winning his frame comfortably, because in some of his matches he's been in front and looking like he was certain to win, only to somehow lose, but that has happened with me in the past, and can happen to anyone i guess?

Well played anyway Pegasus at Gotham, and despite your 3-1 loss,i'm sure it was played in good spirits,as per usual, and bad luck again lads. . .

I can only say, my stomach had nothing all to do with the result Matt!  Steve just took his chances better that I did and deserved to win.  I don't think the number of yellows I took with reds helped much. Doh!

Some good results from the Gotham lads.  Well played.

Even closer now for the run in.  I bet there will be some surprises to come yet.
