Intermediate Hcp: James Robinson 3-1 Jon Sully

James progresses through to the last 16 with a good win over Jon.

1st frame got of to a slow start jon edging it by a couple points mid frame, but a well taken 34 break from james saw him take a 36 points lead with 35 on, jon tried for the snooker but james held on for the frame.

2nd frame A scrappy frame with most balls going safe jon had a 20 point lead and with where the balls were looked like a good lead to have. James though slowly began to pick of the balls that he could and got his way back into it, a good snooker on the blue proved to be the frame clincher with jon failing to escape and james pots blue for frame. jon played for the snooker but ends up potting pink.

3rd frame a tight close frame with no more than a few points in it, the action certainly came towards the end of the frame with james looking a dead cert to win the frame, a good yellow followed by green and a good brown blue over middle pocket and pink and balck both over corner pocket i pot blue and over run for match ball pink leaving an impossable cut. few shots later jon pots pink and black to win the frame.

4th frame again another close frame with no more than afew points in it. Into the colours a bad shot saw jon stick the yellow up james pots yellow plays a good good screw shot on the green using both extention and extention on the rest pots brown leaving me a sitter blue for the match which i fluffed big time. Jon pots blue and pink and with black tight on the rail tries to play the up n down shot but overhits it leaving james a long black which he pots for the match.

Unlucky Jon well played though and thanks for paying towards some of the table cost much appreciatted.

Happy with how i played considering i went in cold with no practice before hand. Looks like im gonna have to stop practicing before matches from now on.

I know James has been struggling lately, so it was nice to see him playing so well.

Perhaps I should do the same and not practice before a match!

I guess like you said jon , going in cold you know you gotta preform from the off. I guess that showed with me and especially with the 34 in the 1St frame aswell.
