DAVID LILLEY WINS NORTH

ALFIE BURDEN 147 AGAIN


North – Northern SC, Leeds

Three times English Amateur Champion David Lilley, Washington who reached the last eight in the first event crushed Kuldesh Johal, Huddersfield 5-0 to win Event 2, North from 56 players to head the regions ranking list.

Twice semi finalist Antony Parsons, Middlesborough is 2nd, Event 1 winner David Craggs, Tow Law Town is 3rd and Johal 4th, Johnathan Bagley, Leeds 5th, Jamie O'Neill, Wellingborough 6th, Robbie Williams, Wallesay 7th and Stephen Craigie, Newcastle 8th.

After trailing 2-1 to Lee Shanker in the 1st round winning 4-3, Lilley never lost another frame beating James Silverwood 4-0 breaks of 56,74 and 76, James Welsh also 4-0, 56 and 114 and finally Parsons 4-0 who made a 55 break in the 1st frame, Lilley 52 in the 4th.

In the final the winner opened with an 86 break won a close 2nd then comfortably wrapped up victory.

Trailing in his opening match 3-2 to Scott Raper, Johal also strode through with ease to reach the final beating Kyren Wilson 4-2, Martin Ball 4-1 no breaks/frame scores recorded by the players on the match sheets.

In the quarter finals Johal whitewashed Stephen Craigie 4-0, 66 and 85 breaks and Jamie O'Neill 4-1 opening with 84, O'Neill 79 for 1-1, Johal 54 in the 5th.

Craigie and David Grace rattled sabres in a cracking match, Craigie 100and 84 to lead 2-0, Grace 94 and 60 for 2-2, Cragie 54, Grace 60, Craigie finishing with 84 for 4-3.

Ex Under 19 Champion Andy Duffy made the venue's highest break a 128 to lead 2-0 in a 2nd round match against Gareth Green but lost 4-2.

South – Cambridge SC

Ben Harrison, Westbury, Wilts captured his first major title the former EASB Under 19 finalist defeated high scoring Alfie Burden, Hatfield 5-2 in the fens final leaping up to 3rd in the rankings, Burden is 2nd , Rob James, Burntwood winner of Event 1 still leads.

Adam Wicheard, Trowbridge is 4th, Matt Wilson, High Wycombe 5th, Mitchell Mann, Birmingham 6th, Elliot Bastable, Sedgley 7th and Daniel Ward 8th. 

In with a chance of a top 16 play off place is Reanne Evans 13th and Maria Catlano who reached the last 16 is 23rd.

Ben Harrison opened his winning weekend by fighting back from 2-0 down to beat Nick Jennings 4-3, Catalano 4-2, Rob James also 4-2 the South's No 1 making breaks of 73 and 94 for 2-2, Harrison 61 and finally Matt Wilson 4-3 who led 3-2, Harrison winning the last two frames easily.

Harrison opened the final with his highest event break 73, Burden (57,74), 52 to lead 2-1, Harrison 52 for 3-2 claiming the win with two low scoring frames.

After beating Kristian Willetts 4-1 in round 1, Burden rattled in thirteen breaks over fifty, 83 and another 147 repeating last seasons feat to lead 2-0, Cox bravely won the next two frames, Burden 132 and 59 to finish, Michael Georgiou 4-1, 116,80,65 and 52, Syd Wilson 4-3 from 3-1 down, Wilson 65 and 59, Burden 93 and 79 for 3-3 and lastly Elliottt Bastable 4-3, Burden 55 and 76 for only 1-1, Bastable 73 for 3-3 and Burden 89 break to wrap things up.

Sean Bullock started brightly from 3-1 down to Richard Somauroo found breaks of 139, 70 and 68 runs of 79,72 and 67 to crush Ryan Mears 4-0 then fell tamely in the last 16 to Mark Williams 4-2.

Next event December 5th & 6th Northern SC and Woking SC.
