James Booth (54,30) 3-1  Mike Langdon

I approached this match with an impending sense of foreboding due to a couple of facts. A player of James Booth's class should not be bottom of the table without a point after 3 games and he always plays well against me and wins.  The opening frame was a fairly scrappy encounter with Langdon guilty of missing lots of colours of their spots, a trend which would plague the Pegasus player for the whole match.  Booth sensing that he needed to make Langdon pay for said misses made a timely 30 break to put the 1st frame to bed.  Langdon responded well in the 2nd frame finding himself 43 points up with only that amount left on the table but he then got the fear and very nearly lost the frame.  Booth managed to get blacks with the two remaining reds plus the yellow before snookering Langdon on the green.  Langdon got out of the snooker but was very much on the back foot.  Having taken the remaining colours Booth overan position on the black and left himself a tough cut back to force a re-spot.  Fotunately for a very twitchy Langdon the black stayed in the jaws of the pocket for a simple tap in for Langdon to level.  Booth perhaps frustrated at letting Langdon off the hook then started to play the best snooker of the match scoring freely in the third frame including a 28 break to go 2-1 up before finally sealing his first win in style with a superb 54 break.  The break was a fine example of cue ball control and had looked like being a really big one but Booth was unlucky to see the cue ball somehow go straight through a bunch of reds when any contact would have left the clearance at his mercy.

Well played mate...up and running   :bravo:
