DUNKLEY BACK IN CHARGE OF UNDER 21?S

YATES IN FIRST FINAL

DOUANE 14 WINS PLATE


Alex Dunkley resumed control of the Under 21?s series at the events new base Willie Thorne?s, Leicester the venue 5 years ago after Potters, Coalville closed down due to the owner opting to build houses on the site.

Dunkley already a winner of two of the events back to back earlier in the year added the 8th event to his tally extending his lead at the top of the rankings defeating Kevin Yates in his first final 3-1 from 23 players. (PIOS 2 in play)

On the hottest day of the year so far Dunkley opened the final with a break of 55 (85-1), Yates won the 2nd frame on the black (47-55).
A run of 61 secured the 3rd frame (71-34) although Yates had a chance to snatch the frame missing a difficult last red down the rail on 27 after Dunkley missed a easy red in the balls on the opening break.     
Yates had control of the 4th frame until the colours from where Dunkley stepped in to win on the pink (61-47).

The winner defeated James Jelley 4-1, Richard Binns 4-2, 61 break, Binns 47 and finally the previous event winner Ryan Mears 3-1 in the semi finals with a break of 79.

Yates now 9th in the rankings from 30th reached the final by beating Jake Nicholson 4-0, Alex Taubman 4-2 who made the days highest break a modest 92 in the heat, Yates 71 and then 3rd ranked Kyren Wilson 3-0 with a 53 break.   

Young Douane shines

Lively Londoner Danny Douane, 14, won the plate for the first time in this age group beating Gene Lam in his first final also 2-1 with a break of 46.
Alex Anastasiou and Nathan Colehan reached the semi finals for the first time in the plate.
