PETER LINES WINS OPENING PRO TICKET TOUR

17 CENTURYS OVER THE WEEKEND


Former professional Peter Lines won the 1st English Pro Ticket Tour of the season at his practise base Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds defeating ex English Open finalist Andy Lee 5-1 in the final to cap a dominant display over the weekend.

The eventual rankings winner over the six events will receive a nomination to the Main Tour 2008/2009 the next 32 players will play off in May 2008 for England?s 2nd place in the top flight.

From a field of 105 that included over twenty ex pro?s Lines raced to a 4-0 lead in the final with breaks of 130 and 50, Lee won the 5th frame with a 57 break, Lines finished off with a 46 clearance from 43-15 adrift.

Lines lost just three frames throughout the whole of the event opening quietly with a 4-0 win against James Lake stepping up a gear to crush Matt Jelley 4-0 breaks of (54,56),100,77 and 82.
Followed on Sunday by a 4-1 win over Lee Page, Greg Batten 4-0 breaks of 52 and 60 and finally Wayne Cooper 4-1, Cooper a 123 break in the 3rd frame.

Lee only recorded three breaks over fifty during the tournament beating Avatar Sohanpal 4-0, Adam Chalkley also 4-0, England captain Craig Steadman 4-2, Lee 68 and 63, Steadman 67, Nick Pearce 4-3 after trailing 3-2, free scoring Sam Baird 4-2, Baird 62 and lastly Adam Duffy 4-1 all the frames on the colours.

Baird who recently made his England debut made the most breaks over fifty, nine and played two matches less than the last four his highest break 124 with four others over 90.

Three players blitzed their opponents in matches then lost in the next round tamely Michael Wild beat Stuart Watson 4-0 with breaks of 129,78,121 and 90 then lost by the same score to Wayne Brown.

Paul Sweeny swept Sean Ward away 4-0 with contributions of 50,116,85,110 lost 4-0 in the next match to semi finalist Adam Duffy who in the last 32 made the days highest break 141.

And David Grace pumped Chris Martin 4-1 after losing in the first frame fired in breaks of 71,94,96 and 124 and fell 4-2 in the next round to Antony Parsons.

To add to the curse Jack Lisowski made breaks of 55,81 and 105 and Nathan Williams 51,52 and 107 with both losing their next games 4-0.

Billiards expert Phil Mumford proved more balls on the table not a problem by reaching the quarter finals losing 4-2 to Duffy.

Other centurions: 133 Wayne Cooper, Nick Pearce 126, Stephen Craigie 106, Mario Fernandez 102 and Robbie Williams 101.
