JELLEY WINS FIRST TITLE

JENNINGS RUNNER UP AGAIN

Two ton losers ? Early exits for past finalists

The home club?s James Jelley won the 11th event of the Under 16 Series, Willie Thorne?s, Leicester (ex Potters) beating yet again runner up Nick Jennings 3-2 to claim his first title.

Jelley junior won the first frame (50-26), Jennings a finalist in April and May?s event at Coalville drew level with a 46 break (19-74) and took the lead on the final ball in the 3rd frame (51-65).

Jennings missed match ball pink in the 4th frame and then obviously nerves jangling did not connect at all with the pink playing a thin safety shot, Jelley drew
level (72-65) on the black.

In the 5th and final frame Jennings snookered himself on the final red and left open the window for Jelley to clear enough balls to win (56-16).

Jelley who reached the first final of the year long series climbs back up to 4th from 7th in the rankings, Jennings still 3rd behind the days early losers Kyren Wilson and Mitchell Travis.

The winner opened with a 3-1 defeat of Finlay Laing 76 break, whitewashed Tom Kerslake and Callum Downing in his first semi final both 3-0.

Despite ton?s ? They lose matches

Kerslake had beaten rankings winner Kyren Wilson 3-2 from 2-0 down, Wilson 116 break in the first round Wilson overcame Sam Craigie 3-1, Craigie 109 break.

The pair clashed again in the plate final later in the day this time Craigie winning 2-0 with Connor Morgan reaching the last four for the first time.

Jenning reached his 6th final overall by beating Sam Thistlewhite 3-1 breaks of 40,41 and 55, Mark Green 3-0 and Tom Maxfield 3-2.

Early exit?s for recent winners

Both the two previous months winners suffered early exit?s Danny Douane lost 3-2 to young Adam Bobat and September?s champion Mitchell Travis slumped 3-1 to Kerslake.

Next event Saturday December 1st ? Grand Finals top 32 only Sat December 15th.
