NORTHERN SNOOKER CENTRE
ENGLISH UNDER 19 SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP


Eighty players battled through to the last 16 in the English Under 19 Snooker Championships sponsored by Northern SC, Leeds at three venues.

The last 16 will be played on Saturday 3rd May in Leeds the draw being made on the day with eight Internationals left in the field competition to reach the final 17th-18th May promises to be fierce.

Highest break so far in the event is a 135 from Adam Duffy, 124 from Sam Craigie, 108 Michael Wasley, 100 Sam Thistlewhite and Liam Highfield.   

Northern ? Northern SC, Leeds
Holder John Astley and younger brother Michael both reached the final stages, Astley senior who defeated World Under 21 Champion Michael Georgiou in last seasons final 5-1 cruised through winning both of his matches 4-0.

Astley junior let slip a 3-1 lead in the first round to eventually beat Daniel Womersley 4-3 and then Jake Nicholson 4-2 with breaks of 47 and 52.
PJT Event 1 winner Adam Duffy featured in two great matches firstly to beat Sam Craigie 4-2, Duffy opened with breaks of 88 and the135, Craigie replied with runs of 124 and 58.
Duffy followed up with another 4-2 win this time against Sheffield colleague Sam Thistlewhite who made breaks of 99,48 and 56 to Duffy?s 50 and 54.
Stephen Craigie faultlessly came through winning both matches 4-0 with breaks of 49,42,54,44,50 and 47.
Other qualifiers Darren Cook, home clubs Gene Lam, Gareth Green, Callum Waite and Martin Ball with five of the players from the North East reaching the next stage.

Midlands/East ? Willie Thorne SC
Liam Highfield made a break of 100 in his final 4-0 win over Callum Downing after beating Tony Marshall 4-2 who came back from 3-0 down in the first round to beat Tom Maxfield.
Darrell Whitworth registered two good victory?s beating Nathan Jones 4-1 and Mitchell Mann 4-3 after leading 3-1 in the final round.
Pro Ticket winner Stuart Carrington coasted through his two games 4-0 with breaks of 52,48,42 and 83 and Alan Moore lost just one frame in his two matches with four forty plus breaks topped by a 67.

Southern ? Woking SC
Ben Harrison who leads the Regional Junior Tour South won both of his matches 4-2 the last against Darren Bond who made a 80 break in the last frame to beat Daniel Hildyard 4-3 in the first round to go with a 87 in the same game. 
Danny Douane probably the youngest qualifier easily reached the last 16 with 4-0 and 4-1 verdicts and Jack Lisowski beat Gloucester and England team mate Michael Wasley 4-1 with a run of 99 after making a 95 in his first match after Wasley with a 108 and 81 had beaten Mark Green 4-0.
