Knockout Plate 2009/10

Champions: Oakleigh Lodge Social Club

Despite a superb late surge by Wollaton's pairing of Rex Benson and Adam Winson, Oakleigh Lodge secured the 2009/10 Knockout Plate trophy thanks to a fantastic all round team performance.  Oakleigh Lodge thoroughly deserve to take the trophy and it is the culmination of a fine run in the competition which saw them miss out on a Knockout Cup semi-final place by just one point to the eventual winners of that event, BCI Super Elites.

Oakleigh's players impressively won all six singles frames and this left Wollaton requiring a winning margin of 73 points from each pairs frame.  Rex Benson was in terrific form as he partnered Adam Winson to a 66 point victory over Jason Turner and Rob Selby, but over on table 2 Colin Tutin and Tej Lees were playing well and they cruised to a 73-34 victory over Gunn and Packer to ensure that Oakleigh Lodge went one better than 2005/06 when they finished runners-up in this competition.

Well done to both teams and the supporters for contributing to a fantastic match which was played in great spirits.

A huge thanks once again to Jim Wright and Lenton Liberal Club for the use of the facilities and for providing the lovely food at half time.
