I don't for obvious reasons want to change the way snooker is played in Nottingham. The two leagues with different formats complement each other. I  am pleased to co-operate with Steve on anything to do with the way things are done in both the leagues. This is fine throughout the winter months, i feel that only one league in the summer would be better, as summer it'self creates problems. holidays! people don't want to play as it's too hot to play snooker etc. Having just one leaue also creates opertunities for players to play teams they wouldn't normally play in the winter. It can be a bit boring sometimes playing the same teams with the same players. How do you feel about this?

Having read most of the comments to date before the various suggestions of different team sizes, frames played and league formats seemed to merge into one.... I thought I'd stick my two pence worth in.

I play both Monday nights (Summer & Winter) 4 man home or away & Tuesday 6 man home and away formats. The Monday league works very well as it incorporates the point aggregate system giving teams an incentive to battle to the last. Also the three league format means each league seems to be more competitive and evenly matched. Additionally it forces players to play both home and away which I think benefits players and each club alike.
On Tuesday the standard is definately a lot higher with a much larger gulf in class between no1 & no4. I think the idea of a 'Super League' would be a good idea for most parties, firstly it would satisfy the 2 frame craving of the top players and would make things more competitive. The issue that I see is transport, Sherwood A dropped out not due to a lack of players but lack of transport predominantly.

Some clubs rely on the same people to travel week in week out (we have 2 players that travel from Mansfield and Kimberley so as they are driving are happy to go away each week and it seems to be a settled format that suits us) If one or the other happen to be in the top 3 players then it requires a whole different team arrangement. On the flip side, some clubs I find tend to adopt a strategy of playing 4 home bankers and looking to nick a frame away, this would stop this.

Apart from the 2 frame thing, I think the format as things stand works well. The only thing I could suggest to make things more competitive and even would be a point handicap system (which I'm sure has been looked at time and time again) where players be graded such as A-E depending on previous results, basically just like the cups....otherwise the thought of playing a Pegusus/Arnold etc no1 or 2 over 2 frames off scratch seems a bit pointless.

I appreciate I've offered no real ideas as a solution but at least contributed!!!

Lots of comments from good experienced voices. I've always thought that player registration would be a good thing and, to be incorporated with this, would we develope a handicapping system ? as suggested by Barry STARK and several others at previous meetings. It will be interesting to know what Steve finds out from other leagues which run throuhout the country.
As for the mention of the previous Super League I dont know what was the cause of the demise but I suspect that it was on the finance side and if I remember there was a lots of travelling to be done - Chesterfield and Derbys.
