The title of this post says it all really!

I have sent out texts to everyone who still has a match to play advising them that they have a few more days to get their matches played.

So the deadline is now FRIDAY 18TH MARCH 2011

Come on, come on steve....... a deadline's a deadline and as Brooksie said they have had 8 week. I bet it's the same culprits. I am not having a go at you mate but it's a little unfair to those who make more than enough effort to get their games played.

You know, dave the other day had a few car probs to get here on  wednesday for our doubles as that was the only day we could all play. he still made the effort to get here from Newark - he's a credit .


as i say steve, i'm not having a go here, but some players are taking the p***, and some have taken the p*** in the leagues as well in getting matches arranged.

I know life can be unpredictable, but its you whose got to decide if players EXCUSES are genuine or not.

i was just brought up that rules are rules and i had some strict teachers at school and homework  deadlines were final, otherwise there were consequeneces!

Some of us have had lots if problems at home. And that's why I gave you your game bash. Haven't got time with all problems and moving. I have had to be at home in the evenings with all the problems of neighbours threatening to burn the house down in front of an 8 yr old. And this has been going on for over a month now.

Without making a debate of it gaz, I think threats of burning your house goes down as a reasonable excuse. I am just making s point that we all have to respect each others time and the time limits set by those organising all the company and leagues. I just feel that some take the p***. We don't want the mentality that players begin to think that they are given extensions Willy billy and use other players who have played their matches late as justification. It may be a good idea for players to make their excuses public I.e put them on the forum. I wonder how many matches will then request an extension. As I say some players are full of shot and take the p*** and it is those what need clamping down on. Even David Cameron could spare a few hours each week, so anyone after having 8 weeks to play and then make excuses in the last week is taking the p*** in my book and should be scratched. Those who fall in this category, no point , having a go at me, just , your excuses on line and I am sure the players will know who is genuine and who is full of pooh.

The draw was made on 1st February so they have had 5 weeks, not 8.  Still plenty of time though I agree.

With effect from the next round onwards, two rules will be made absolutely clear:

1. It is the responsibility of BOTH PLAYERS/PAIRS to arrange their match.
2. All matches must be played by the deadline or BOTH PLAYERS/PAIRS will be scratched*.  NO EXCEPTIONS AT ALL!

*If one of the players/pairs can prove that they have made every effort to arrange the match but their opponent is at fault then only the player/pair at fault will be scratched.
