Pegasus 'A' Complete the League and Cup Double

Pegasus 'A' completed the league and cup double with a scintillating victory against Riley's at Lenton Liberal club.
There was some brilliant performances by both teams as this thriller went to the wire.

Brooks 26 - 21 = 5 vs 91 + 7 = 98 Cohoon
Chris Brooks suffered a rare defeat as Arron Cohoon made the most of his chances against the deadly Arnold player and put Riley's into a commanding lead after this opener.

Thorpe 18 + 28 = 46 vs 91 - 14 = 77 Hussain
Nav Hussain pulled some points back for Pegasus with a good performance against Lee Thorpe. Hussain picking the points off with some excellent safety and keeping Thorpe at bay.

Taylor 81 - 0 = 81 vs 52 - 0 = 52 Langford
Mark Taylor pulled Pegasus back into the match with a solid performance against Marcus Langford. Taylor making the most of the few opportunities he received.

Hopkin 32 + 7 = 39 vs 76 - 0 = 76 Castel-Nuovo
Danny Castel-Nuovo was taking no prisoners as he punished Dave Hopkin in the early stages of this game. Hopkin fighting back though and clearing the last three colours to reduce the arrears.

Mathers 102 - 0 = 102 vs 25 + 7 = 32 Pugh    (Mathers 75 Break)
Undoubtedly the game of the night as Jamie Mathers made a brilliant 75 break (Should have been a ton) against Rob Pugh. The Riley's man coming back at the end of the game and taking the last four valuable colours.

Stone 67 + 7 = 74 vs 38 - 7 = 31 Spencer
James Stone made the most of Gary Spencers errors and put Rileys back in front in this intriguing match.

Taylor/Brooks 116 - 21 = 95 vs 13 - 0 = 13 Cohoon/Langford   (Taylor 58,38 Breaks)
A brilliant performance by Mark Taylor in what turned out to be the decisive frame in this match. Taylor making breaks of 58 and 38 in turning the game on it's head and eventually claiming the KO Cup for Pegasus.

Thorpe/Truin 44 + 28 = 72 vs 47 - 14 = 34 Martin/Hussain
The final pairs game was a dead rubber really due to the Taylor performance but still a tight one with the very tactical Anthony Truin and Lee Thorpe taking on Wayne Martin and Nav Hussain. The Rileys pair keeping the Pegasus duo off the table with some brilliant single ball potting. Martin and Hussain just managing to keep the points down as news spread from the other table of what was required in terms of points.

A great match between these two sides, played in good spirits.

Unlucky Rileys, you guys have a great team and we look forward to locking horns with you in the league at some point.

Great victory last night and showed that we do have players that on the night can produce the goods. Jamie's break was excellent , got something out of nothing when he came to the table. Mark also got into the groove as the match went on and now we can concentrate on the next final and fully prepare for Mr butler and team. Rileys played their part in a cracking final, well done guys.

AT LAST A REFEREE WHO KNOWS HOW TO INTERPRET THE MISS RULE. WELL DONE TERRY CAMILLERI FROM MALTA.

Terry was refereeing the match the other night between maguire and hawkings. At the beginning of the frame maguire potted the first red and the white got nestled in the pack of reds and he was snookered on all colours. Black and pink were covered by reds. Only. Shot on was a 4 cushion escape for a baulk colour. Maguire nominates yellow and misses. Ref calls foul and miss. Ball is replaced. Same thing happens again and ref call foul and miss. Balls replaced. He then nominated brown and hit yellow. Again, foul and miss. On 4th attempt maguire nominated yellow an narrowly misses it and ref just calls foul. Hawkins does not query it and takes his next shot.

It was obviously a very difficult snooker and there is nothing in the rules to say that the player should make continued attempts until he has gotbout of the snooker. Most referees think that once they call a miss then they have yo continue to call a miss until the player escapes from the snooker. This is not the case .

Just letting you all know how this rule should applied. It was brave of the referee tobdo this.

Well done guys, good luck with the other final.

I just want to say Thanks to Mike and staff at Pegasus for being great host to a great venue for our Plate final. Thank you from all the guys at Beeston  :bravo:

Lee Thorpe

Well played pegasus A really good cup final and some cracking performances. In the final doubles me and truin knew if we kept it close with the points advantage and Cahoon / Langford got in first we could win the cup. Just a shame Taylor was on form.

About the committee

My team and I  would just like to thank everybody who takes their time to run this league. Without the email from Steve Butler Nottingham Rileys would not have entered teams because I would not have known about it. Thank you Steve keep up the good work.  :bravo:

About Rileys Debut season.

There are 2 out of the 7 players that have not played snooker in years. This season has got us all and we now have the snooker bug.
I drafted players who came into the club on a regular basis and moulded a team. We have had a fantastic debut season and we are looking forward to next season. Dave Hopkin is a 9 ball player and I play 8 ball.

We are looking forward to next season and and trying to better this season.

Thank you
