I guess given my recent results some thought should be given to moving me up to a grade 3 also.... Not bad for somebody who still can't make a 20 break on a regular basis!  :D :D :D :D

Advertise then.  What is it you guys would like help with?  You asked for suggestions and we have offered some. :)

I like Matt's idea.......... (although i think 2 doubles matches)

4 singles matches and 2 doubles matches (Players 1&2 and Players 3&4 team up)
That way all 4 players get 2 frames - albeit one of them being a doubles match

also if we were to do this, single table venues could probably accomodate this.

Just thought i would throw that out there  :P

Oh...... and for the record, i think the committee do an outstanding job  ;D

If you are asking to be upgraded from 4 to 3 Dwayne, then I can do that for you no problem.  Are you asking?

I don't think I'm good enough to be a grade 3, I'm a good grade 4 and I'd be a very poor grade three, which, if you don't mind me saying so are probably most of the players in our division, we're just nowhere near consistent enough overall with our game, Manfred is top of the league because overall he looks the most consistent of the players I've played. I can pot a long ball as well as anybody, but when it comes to the finer elements of the game that take you to the next level, it's just not there. Steve Burrows steamed division 3 last year as he has some elements of those finer points as well as being a superb long potter, with all due respect to you all, I've yet to see anybody else play as well as he did last season.

I played Jeff Kerins (Grade 3), who to me without doubt would have hammered me had things been a lot less stressed for him, you can see he's capable of knocking in regular 50+ breaks when his game is on it, when my game is on it I can make a decent 20 break before breaking down....

I think it's the same for all the grades though, you have very good players amongst them, those who can be very good and those who are good now and again as well as those who've had a good day once a season....

Daniel

You should have been a politician Dwayne.  What grade do you think you should be again? LOL

On ability, I think you are a  grade 3.  On consistency, like me, you could be anything....  I prefer being a grade 3 because when I play well it is embarrassing to get a start on grade 3 players (and feels unfair).

I personally would prefer 2 frames per player but keep the current Monday score system i.e. point for a frame, bonus point for win & aggregate frames scores so that Monday's can retain a close link to the original Nott's Institutes Leagues (I Think)
That's exactly what I was trying to say earlier but probably not making it that clear.  I hope you are at the meeting matey. ;)

I think I should be a grade 4 Dan, which is what I think you and most of our division should be too, I don't understand why you'd get embarassed for playing well? as I said, I recon most of us are good grade 4's but poor grade 3's.

I think that what Dan is getting at is something that I agree with, and something similar with handicapping in golf.

Your handicap really should reflect your current 'best' level, in other words the level you would play to if your current form was good. All across the board most people's handicaps if we are being brutal are too good for the reality of what they produce most of the time.

This is better than everyone having a handicap that is too easily beaten which would lead to accusations of being a 'bandit'.

The only problem we have at the moment, maybe not a problem but more of a quirk, is that a lot of players' handicaps fall between what is offered. Myself and Dwayne are both probably grade 3.5 at the moment but that doesn't exist!

Handicaps should always be fluid and subject to change. For me the motivation is to keep improving and have mine reduced when it is merited. If I feel that is no longer happening I will probably pack it in if I'm not happy with the level I have plateau'd at.

I am a bit strange like that, but it is an approach that worked well in golf for me but also ultimately led me to pack it in once I realised I had peaked.
