The NBSA winter singles league is now (almost) complete.

Premier A
It was a shame we lost Aaron Cahoon and Jimmy Gratton part way through the season.  Nevertheless it was a successful season in Premier A and I think everyone will agree that the most consistent performer over the season came out on top.  Well done Keith Holgate.  Runner-up was Dave Jobling so well done to him too.  It was surprising to see last season's champion Barry Stark struggling but no doubt he'll come back next season wanting to put that right.  As a result of Aaron and Jimmy withdrawing, there will be no relegation from this division.

Premier B
It was so close at the top and it went right down to the last few matches.  Neil Elliott snatched the title from Ant McMahon in the very last match.  All credit to Neil too, who was offered a walkover by Jon Mason but he refused and insisted on playing the match.  Jon has failed to contact Lee Crombie to arrange their match and he did not respond to my text messages either so I'm not sure if there's a problem there.  As a result, the Lee v Jon match as been recorded as a NR 0-0 and this now sets up a play-off between Malc Belshaw and Lee Crombie.  They both finished level on points and frame difference and the result of their two matches were both 2-2 draws so there's nothing to separate them.  I will endeavour to arrange this play-off match within the next few weeks.  The loser will be relegated alongside Jon Mason, although I am not sure whether Mason will be entering next year based on his virtual disappearance over the last couple of months!

Division 1
Nick Kirkman and Matt Walters were clearly well ahead of the rest in this division, although Andy Teale gave a good account of himself in his first season and will be one of the favourites next year.  Adam Goodall finds himself relegated but the second relegation spot was not as clear cut.  It went right down to the wire but in the end it was Cary Davies who found himself in the bottom two.

Division 2
Well, what can you say about this division that hasn't already been said by the players taking part in it.  Such a close finish, it was amazing to see it all unfold.  In the end, someone had to miss out and it was Steve Coleman and Steve Burrows who came out on top.  I told 'Buzz' the other day that at one point during the season he looked in for a relegation battle but clearly something clicked and he went on a terrific run which lifted him to second place.  I'm sure Paul, Bo and Ross will be fighting for promotion next season.  Commiserations to Sean Croft and my old Stadium Leisure team-mate Matt Hearson-Ellis who find themselves relegated to Division 3.  Will they bounce straight back?

Division 3
This is always an interesting division.  Brian Steeples keeps giving 100% and he must be one of the favourites to lift our new Sportsman of the Year trophy.  Dave Pearce is clearly loving his snooker and he just wants to play as much as possible.  Julian Howard finished the season very strongly but just missed out on promotion.  Congratulations to Manfred Corbin, a deserved winner of the division and Dwayne Martin who came in as a late replacement for Bhushan Andhare and managed to fulfill all of his fixtures despite moving to The Malverns.

High Breaks
A trophy will be presented to the player who made the highest break in each division:

(A) Toby Simpson - 99
(B) Ant McMahon - 76
(1) Matt Walters - 89
(2) Ross Wilkin - 58
(3) Dwayne Martin - 38

To all those players who have secured a trophy by winning a division, finishing runner-up or making the highest break, make sure you reserve your place at the Presentation Dinner by paying online now:

Give me chance Bob, I was still checking it!

Great round up Steve. Congratulations to all winners and Runner's up and a big thankyou to everyone else on competing and completing the season. What is it about Division 2 always being such a close fought division? I think Premier B this season has been incredible with at least 4 different leaders throughout the season!!!

Plenty of new players signed up for the summer singles so hopefully looking good for another cracking (winter) singles league next season.

No mention of my amazing 4th placed finish?  ;)
