What better opener to my league experience than to play the league organiser?  Needless to say I now know all I wanted to know about the league.

I started the match with a confident edge, Paul pegged me back quickly, one poor safety gave the opening and Paul took it, 4 reds, 3 blacks with a possible clearance on, position was key, with 25 in the bag and potting the 4th black for 32 he went in off.  The gap was too much and Paul took the frame 63-19.

Frame 2 went to Terry, nothing more than teens throughout, with a 22 lead and only 18 on Terry potted the blue for the frame 55-28.

In a match that ebbed and flowed, Paul took frame 3 with a 21 break, a missed pink for another 21, still tight til the blue went down, 2-1 to Paul with a 61-44 scoreline.

The final frame gave little opportunity with the black getting tied up early, a tight game from both players it was the first real mistake that proved costly, Paul fouled on the reds and Terry put him back in again.  A tough escape left an opportunity which Terry grasped with a 24 break.

Fortune favours the brave, or so we thought, Paul was brave on both brown and pink, but both sat over the pockets for Terry to level the match 2-2 with a 56-43 scoreline.

A friendly match with a great guy.  Paul it was a pleasure and thanks for the chat and info about the league, I am not so nervous about this league now I have a point on the board!

Cheers Dave, not a bad way to finish a week when I could have easily snapped my cue and never played again!!!
