Oakleigh 4 City Hospital 3

Congratulations to Oakleigh who have completed the 'double'   :bravo:

This was a repeat of last years final that was won by City Hospital in the deciding pairs frame and this years match again went the distance. Here's a quick summary - sorry no scores and for any wrong names/spellings!

Match 1 - John Bakewell defeated Jason Turner to get City off to a cracking start, even allowing for his 28 handicap start this was a good win sealed with a terrific long pink. 1-0 City

Match 2 - Steve Roe won for Oakleigh vs Jordan Parnham. This was a black ball frame with Jordan having given 7 to his opponent. Good comeback from Steve who trailed for much of this frame. 1-1

Match 3- Bo Murtagh beat Rob Wallace in a frame that both players would probably best forget! Really scrappy and the pockets on the main table in Sherwood are tough    2-1 Oakleigh

Match 4 - Dave Buckley beat Manny Sant. Dave had a 14 start and with great safety in a high quality frame won on the black. 2-2

Match 5 - Tej Lees beat Les Smith as Oakleigh edged ahead. Les was unable to claw back a 21 point handicap deficit as Tej potted well to win on the colours.

Match 6 - Russ Kirk levelled the match for City in a nerve wracking frame. This one also went down to the black and it looked as though Matthew Roe had the frame on the pink only to foul and let his more experienced opponent nick the frame. well played both players.

Match 7 The decider..Manny and Ryan Cooper took on Jordan Parnham and Dave Buckley. with a 7 point start for City. In the circumstances this was good quality frame and both teams had chances to score heavily but just run out of luck or position. It was won on the pink by Oakleigh after Manny had clawed back points by potting all the colours.

The match finished at just past 11.30pm - a real marathon! Really good nights snooker though.
Thanks to Sherwood for the the use of the club and for all the players competing in the right spirit.  :thx:

Cheers
Rob

Steven Roe
