Senior Handicap Snooker Championship Final (02/05/12)

[Steve Butler]

Jamie Moore (-14) defeated Chris Brooks (-21) 3-0 in the final of the MB Build Senior Handicap Snooker Championship on Wednesday evening.

The match was played on Michael Holt's table at Pegasus Snooker Club.  This should have suited Brooks better but he struggled throughout the match and his highest break was just 20.

The first frame began with the blue, pink and black all going safe.  This led to a bout of safety play which resulted in all of the reds gathering on one side of the table.  A short time later both players called for a re-rack.

Following the re-rack things didn't get much better.  Both players were struggling but it was Moore who eventually found himself 21 ahead with 22 on the table.  Brooks was unable to get going and Moore potted brown, blue and pink to go 1-0 up.

The second frame was also a little scrappy but Brooks managed a run of 20 to take a slim lead.  Moore replied with a 34 break and once again he was 21 ahead with 22 on the table.  Moore pushed on and won the frame to go 2-0 ahead.

In the third frame Moore missed a fairly straightforward red and left Brooks in the balls with a great chance.  Unfortunately he broke down on 16.  Moore responded with a 42 break.  Going into the colours Moore led by 26 points.  A poor safety shot from Brooks left Moore a simple yellow over the middle bag.  He potted the yellow and Brooks conceded - it just wasn't his night!

Congratulations to Jamie Moore on winning the 2012 Senior Handicap Snooker Championship.  Other winners of handicap competitions this season were James Notman (Intermediate) and Steve Burrows (Junior).

Thanks for doing the report Steve and many thanks for refereeing, the scoreline was very flattering to me and I did enjoy a good run of the ball. Hard lines to Chris who was nowhere near his best. Also a big thanks to Pegasus and Micheal for letting us use their brilliant table.
