The tournament had 17 entrants.

NBSA members who made the trip were myself, Danny Rhodes, Joe Reynolds, Paul Wainwright and Vinnie Dennis.

Other competitors included Scott Higgins (Butch), Ashley Walker, Tony Morgan, Chase Richards and Connor Rollo.  I can't recall the names of the other seven competitors.

Danny Rhodes lost 3-2 in his first match against Paul Wainwright.  Danny went 2-0 up but Paul did well to come back and win it.

Joe Reynolds won his first round match 3-0 I think it was.  He then played Paul in the quarter-finals.  Paul went 2-0 up but Joe came back to 2-2 and only lost the decider on the black.

I lost to Tony Morgan 3-1 in the first round.  Tony then beat Ashley Walker in the quarter-finals (3-0).

Paul beat Tony 3-1 in the semi-finals and he then played Scott Higgins in the final.  Higgins, or "Butch" as he's more commonly known as, is a very good player and he beat Paul 3-1 in the final.

The highest break when I left was 71.  I don't know if that was beaten.

Well done to Paul for reaching the final.

Thanks to Tony and the friendly staff for running the tournament.

It cost just £7 to enter (£5 of which went into the prize fund) and for that you could play all day as they left the table lights on for practise.  Very good value.

The club is really nice.  It has 15 full sized tables, two of which are steel block match tables.  They could all benefit from a recover and some brighter lights but I am sure the management will be looking to sort that out soon.

The club does really nice food (including fish finger sandwiches which Danny enjoyed) and the beer prices are reasonable.  There is also a very large car park.

I will certainly be looking to hold a future NBSA one day tournament at The Towers and any team that players in our Team Leagues from the club will be more than welcome.

Other competitors from yesterday were Darrell Brown, Callum Lakin, Richard England, Dan Moll, Chris Burns, Ashley Sharpe and Richard Hallam.

Paul Wainwright

A really good day held at Towers, tournament ran well by Tony Morgan.

Congratulations to Scott "Butch" Higgins winning 3-1 in the final.

Hopefully they'll enter a team in the summer league and they'll also hold a comp in future.

Thank you to Towers for providing the facilities.
