Arnold Civil Defence 'A' 7 -1 Pegasus

Pegasus were left licking their wounds as a rampant Arnold team took a giant step in retaining their league title. The impressive Chris Winter got Arnold off to a flyer thumping Chris Piech by some sixty odd points and Mike Langdon had no answer to a superb potting display from Gary Spencer which put Arnold two up in what seemed like sixty seconds! In the pairs Chris Winter continued his good form with an excellent thirty something break to put the frame beyond Pegasus's Piech and Langdon. The penultimate shot of the evening summed up Pegasus's night when the luckless Steve Booth attempted a double only to leave the black hanging over the middle pocket which James Notman tucked away for a four-nil demolition. At Pegasus Chris Brooks was the teams only victor with a good win against the evergreen Tony Hart.  Arnold's Malc Belshaw had a good win over Jamie Mathers in an hour long epic whilst Brian Kinton beat Scott Bates.  Kinton and Belshaw then won in the doubles to complete the rout and condemn Pegasus to a 7-1 defeat, their biggest ever loss and send Arnold top of the league for the first time this season.

No, not quite top of table, we are level on points but YOU are still ONE FRAME in front. But but but we a match in hand.

Sorry, we ARE top. Just realised Sherwood 'A'  HAVE dropped out and you will lose you last 6-2 win against them.  Both of our (Arnold & Pegasus) previous matches against Sherwood were 5-3 wins so they even themselves out.  So, we lose our game in hand but you lose 6 frame points so I think that puts us 2 points and 5 frames in front - I think. Will have to wait until Steve does an amended league table.

yeah that's what I make it.  That result was an absolute disaster for our hopes, a narrow loss wouldn't have been so bad but 7-1 is as good as 3 points.  One things for sure we can't afford another slip (our next league match is against a bit of a bogey team for us - BCI) and we certainly need to win a fair few fixtures 7-1 (easier said than done!) to try to reduce the frame difference before we play you again.

I was convinced it would be 4-4!

Here's the top of the table:
