Pegasus 'B' 3-4 Nottingham University
                          Dale Prime (30)

Another close match between the division's top two went the way of Nottingham University thanks to a fantastic away leg performance. Tom Laycock got Nottingham University up and running against Daniel Norton who held his own until the latter stages of the frame eventually going down 56-40.  Dale Prime was in fine form hardly missing a ball and making a good 30 break in an impressive 60 odd point win aginst Pegasus's Andy Orange who was totally shut out by the University player to put his team two up.  With the pressure now on Pegasus, the ever reliable Steve Booth didn't waver and proved too strong on the night for Ben Mcintosh running out a comfortable winner.

Fortunately for Pegasus the away leg was enjoying success down at the University Campus with firstly Ken Michell continuing his winning run by making a brilliant clearance to see off Robin Hicks.  A good blue was followed by a superb pink played hard into the middle bag with bags of side to bring the cue ball down towards the black which was tight on the cushion.  There was a fair amount of pressure on the frame ball but it didn't show as ice cool Michell rolled it along the cushion into the pocket to snatch the opening frame.  Pegasus were shortly afterwards two up with Mike Langdon potting brown and blue to leave Alex Smith needing both pink and black to tie the frame.  Smith potted a good long pink but a misjudged safety gifted Langdon a welcome win (yay first of 2010  ).  In the final frame Kalpesh Mevada overturned a 21 handicap to win a very good frame of snooker with the result of the frame perhaps turning on two excellent shots from Mevada which as good as they were also nearly lost him the frame.  The first was a brilliant safety which sent the cue ball behind yellow and brown but also ran a lot closer to the corner pocket than anticipated leaving the cue ball in the jaws defying gravity.  The second was a cannon played off the brown during a telling break moving the yellow off the cushion towards the corner pocket which also very nearly dropped in from which he went on to make enough to leave Towle needing a snooker.  Back at Pegasus the pressure was now on both pairings with the match delicately poised at three a peice.  It was the University pairing of Prime & Laycock who grabbed the moment and won the match in style running out huge winners over Booth & Orange to book University's place in the next round.

great match  :bravo: :welldone: :bravo:

Really good match, three best frames at the university so far in the season. Thought we would probably lose after going two-nil down to two black ball frames so well done to the guys away at Pegasus for pulling it out the bag.

Yep was a good night for us down at your place and i felt reasonably confident heading back up the ring road that we would do enough at home to progress.  Apparently Dale Prime was on fire and only missed about two balls all night and was backed up well by Tom Laycock as they thumped us in the pairs....gutted.

really enjoyable night though, there's something deeply satisfying about walking past the squash courts and seeing those guys half killing themselves out there and thinking...'I'm so glad i picked snooker as my game of choice' and then moving on through from the thuds, squeaks and grunts of the crazy people into the welcoming calm of the snooker room.

see you soon mate

Except when The Force is playing - bedlam and chaos spring to mind.

I actually thought he wasn't going to turn up last night!!!!! - what a team player :-)

Team Player!!!

He's the only guy i know who 'sledges' his own team

In fact we raced home last night hoping to catch the pairs so we could give him a bit of his own medicine.

Well played the A team last night....brilliant performance  :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

Thanks mate - we did well - Beeston are a very strong team - we had a bit of run for a change and took advantage.
Zeb played great against Ant - he was down a few points and came back well - really solid. He set us up really so deserves a lot of credit.

I got lucky and Nav was solid as usual - really surprised to come out of Beeston 3-0 up, although Nav and Neil just really had a knock about in all honesty - played off scratch - may have been different if Neil had applied his 14 start.

Looking forward to the semi final draw which i guess will be made at the meeting tomorrow.  Have arranged our pairs match against Barry & Ray for Tuesday at 8pm as neither of us has a match next week.
