JAMES McGOURAN WINS

ROBERTSON STILL LEADS RANKINGS


James McGouran, Hull won Event 5 English Pro Ticket Tour, Northern SC, Leeds defeating Sean Bullock, Woking 5-4 in the final on the black after trailing 4-1.

After playing in only the last two events the Humberside player rockets up to 7th in the rankings quarter finalist Jimmy Robertson, Bexhill on Sea still leads on 806 points, semi finalist Stuart Carrington is 2nd on 727.

Bullock is 3rd on 610 points the top three with only one event remaining April 25th/26th Woking SC are the main contenders for England?s No 1 spot with Robertson the leader since Event 3 the firm favourite.

However the results from the English Amateur Championship will still play a big part especially for the 32 play off places.

In the final Bullock led 3-0 with breaks of 40 and 51 the winner won a close 4th frame 66-58, Bullock won the 5th easily to regain a three frame advantage, McGouran comfortably won frames 6 and 7 the 8th 60-41 the decider 63-61 to win without a break over forty in the final.

McGouran reached the final from a much smaller field due to a PIOS event dictating some player?s choices beating Reanne Evans 84 break 4-1, McGouran 118 and 93, Paul Clutton 64,53 who led 2-1, 4-2, 80 break, Rob James 4-3 from 3-1 down and Sam Baird 4-2, Baird 78 for 2-2, McGouran 52.

Baird, 83, had beaten on fire Jimmy Robertson, 51, 4-2 in the last eight the leader had made breaks of 113,69,63 and 56 to beat young Oliver Brown 4-0, 103,72,67,64,49 and 41 to crush Sam Harvey 4-0 and from 2-0 down to Shaun Parkes sprinted home with runs of 129 the weekends highest plus 95,68 and 64.

Bullock easily reached the final after losing in the last two semi finals defeating Steve Mooney, 50, 4-1, Lee Postill, 57, 4-1, Callum Downing 4-0 and Stuart Carrington, 44,68 who led 2-0, 4-2, Bullock 103 and 40.

Greg Batten made breaks of 121,77,67 and 43 but lost 4-3 to Ryan Mears, 81,52 and 45.
