KO Cup - Lenton "A" 476 - 428 Stadium (22/01/08)

Lenton Liberal Club ?A? remain on course for a third successive Knockout Cup title after defeating Stadium Leisure by 48 points.

At Lenton, Adam Shaw made a 39 break on his way to beating Matt Ellis by 65 points (92 ? 27).  Steve Butler then reduced the deficit when he beat Phil Connoly by 24 points (66 ? 42).  Mark Bradley did well to lose by just 19 points against Joe Lunney (67 ? 48).  In the pairs frame Lunney & Connoly beat Ellis & Bradley by 28 points (66 ? 38) meaning Lenton won the leg by a total of 88 points.

At Stadium, Matt Savage made a 34 break against Matt Savage played Barry Stark, however and classy Stark made a 34 clearance to win the frame by 39 points (76 ? 37).  Adam Goodall, who made a terrific 34 break, then beat Pete Gormley by 25 points (73 ? 48) and Darren Hewitt beat John Lane by 39 points (75-36).  Therefore, as the match entered its final frame, Lenton were ahead by 73 points after allowing for Stadium?s 40 point start.

So it was left to Stark & Gormley to see if they could beat Savage & Goodall by the required 74 points.  They put up a brave fight but with just 22 points remaining and 7 snookers required (49 ? 24) both teams shook hands.

Just for the record it was my 34 break, dont seem to manage them very often in single frame matches so thought i had better lay claim to it!!  :)
