Got to get this bee out of my bonnet.....

Team a beats team b 500-480
Team a beats team c 400-390
Team c beats team b 430-421

Team b who wins no games qualifies. ....whereas team awho are undefeated giving huge starts fail to qualify...

Great system.....not!!!!....

No one will ever convince me either...

Also when it is only  a 3 leg group it favours the teams that play the last leg because they know what they have to do.....

totally agree with you Jamie - it never made sense to me when i played years ago. The basic answer is that the cup handicap system has never been about the frames won - the points always take priority over the frames won.

Team B read the rules and made sure they scored as many points as they could.

Team A were more concerned with winning frames rather than scoring points.

If u get two bad teams playing against each other they have a massive advantage...they have there +200 n odd handicap starts n then they have 147 each frame... u can only control the games ur involved in!!

Of course if anybody is unhappy about anything or has any new ideas or solutions they're more than welcome to put their views forward at the next meeting which is on Thursday (i think).

Perhaps a member of BCI could attend to put forward any proposals for discussion.

Think about it this way Jamie.

In the Institutes. Team A has a 36 handicap start on Team B. Team B wins all 4 frames, but on count up team B only wins by 35 points. Team A Qualifies by 1 point. You could argue that each player has a 9 point start on his opponent, but the handicap is commutative, and therefore if player 1 in team A loses by 10 points then player 2 has a 25 start. He loses by 10 points and player 3 has a 15 start. He loses by 10 points and player 4 has 5 points start. He loses by 4 points and Team B wins, although team B have won 4 frames to 0. It's points that count.

I know it's different where 3 teams are in contention, but it's the same principle. The consideration in the cup is to score points, not frames. If it were contended on frames how could you handicap a team. In the NHSL all players have an handicap and that's what's used.

Your all missing the point, I am not talking about frames, I am talking about points...

team a conceding huge starts has beaten both  team b and team c on aggregate points...

But team a cannot do anything about when team b plays team c.....

Irrespective of standard of play the average fram aggregate is about 115 pts between the two players whether they are pros or average amateur players....

Because when team b plays team c they both start on plus handicaps and still have 115 pts to score....

It is a double  handicap to team A which is grossly unfair....

If the NHSL has given the correct handicaps this system would be unnessary....
