Introducing the Mercy Rule

Introducing the Mercy Rule

We’re introducing the Mercy Rule to limit the number of snookers a player (or pair) may carry on for at the end of a frame.

If at any point the player/pair at the table needs four or more standard fouls (plus all the balls left on the table, including blacks with any reds) to tie, then they will be obliged to concede the frame immediately.

The Mercy Rule will be applied as follows:

Team Leagues

The Mercy Rule will be applied in every frame played in both winter and summer team leagues. It is not optional.

VAR Tournaments (£10 Entry Fee)

The mercy rule will be played, unless BOTH players agree not to play it. You should have this discussion prior to the start of the match. If you don’t discuss it prior to the match then the mercy rule will be played.

VAR Tournaments (£20 Entry Fee)

The mercy rule will not be played.

Home League

The mercy rule will be played, unless BOTH players agree not to play it. You should have this discussion prior to the start of the match. If you don’t discuss it prior to the match then the mercy rule will be played.

Singles League

The mercy rule will be played, unless BOTH players agree not to play it. You should have this discussion prior to the start of the match. If you don’t discuss it prior to the match then the mercy rule will be played.
